1 Exchange hab Introduction

Hierarchical Address Book (HAB) is a feature in Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 and the Microsoft Outlook 2010 Address Book that enables end users to browse recipients in their Exchange organization through an organization hierarchy. In most Exchange 2010 deployment, users are limited to the default Global address List (GAL) and their associated recipient properties. In addition, the structure of the GAL often does not accurately reflect the management or seniority relationship between recipients in the organization. The ability to customize HAB to reflect your organization's unique business structure can provide your users with an efficient way to find internal recipients. ( note :HAB can only be used for static distribution groups )

2 Exchange hab configuration steps

The following configuration steps are examples of the OU that will be created for HAB named HAB. The domain name for the Exchange 2010 organization is CONTOSO.COM,CONTOSO,LTD and will be the name of the top-level organization ("root organization") in the hierarchy. Under Contoso,ltd, the subordinate groups named Corporate Office, Product support Organization, and Sales & Marketing Organization are created as their child organizations. In addition, Groups Human Resources, Accounting Group, and administration Grou are created under Corporate Office as their child organizations.
