Today we look at the personal mail archiving feature in Exchange Server2010.

In earlier versions of Exchange, The user needs to do the mail store generally is to create a personal folder. pst file, which is also used most, is to download messages on the Exchange server from Outlook to local storage, and users can access these stored messages offline, so also known as offline mode, the archiving method is to open the Outlook interface and click File----information----Cleanup Tool---archive. In this case, I select the Inbox and the file is specified as D:\20130412\Archive.pst. As shown in the following illustration:

Then, on the online user's Inbox, right-click the folder, and then, in the Copy selected folder to folder, select Archive---inbox, OK. It is then shown in the following figure:

The user can then select the message that needs to be archived in the user's online inbox, and hold down the Ctrol key and drag it to the Inbox in the archive. View the Archive.pst file under d:20130412 has been added to the larger.

Another approach, called caching mode, introduces cached Exchange mode in later versions of Outlook 2003, providing a better online and offline experience for users. Caching mode allows users to switch between connected and disconnected environments without interrupting the Outlook experience. This mode also enables users to use Outlook without interference from network latency and connectivity issues. Caching mode is to store an OST file on the local store that synchronizes with Exchange Server mailbox messages, which is called the offline store offline file, and Outlook runs from the local copy of the user who stores the file, periodically from the exchange The computer updates the cached mailboxes and OAB, but the user cannot open the OST file as directly as the PST file is opened, and one way is to use the Outlook AutoArchive feature to automatically store the user's online mail and save it to the client's local storage, with the default filename: Archive.pst. Users can hang back into an archive folder in Outlook by opening the Outlook data file in Outlook to make it available for users to access old messages offline. Here's how to set the Outlook2010: Click the file---option---advanced, turn on AutoArchive settings, click to select the check box at the archive interval, and then type a number to specify the Run frequency box for the AutoArchive process on that day. If you want to be notified before you archive a project click to select the Prompt before AutoArchive check box. As shown in the following illustration:

These types of archiving are no longer appropriate for current management practices, such as manual storage and automatic storage that are local to the client, and are not managed by an administrator if the server is not stored, and cannot be guaranteed to meet the confidentiality compliance requirements of the message. The personal archiving feature of Exchange Server2010 provides users with the ability to create an alternate location on the Exchange server to hold mail data, and users can seamlessly access both online and archived mailboxes using Outlook2010 or OWA, to move messages between them, Replication and so on.
