It is very important to know some knowledge about the Routing Information Protocol. Here we will mainly explain the experience of the basic knowledge about the Routing Information Protocol, and the Routing Information Protocol (Routing Information Protocol) it is an ancient routing information protocol based on distance vector algorithm. The optimal path is selected by calculating the minimum hop number to reach the destination.

The number of hops of the RIP Protocol is up to 15 hops. When this number is exceeded, the RIP Protocol considers the destination to be inaccessible. In addition, the path features cannot be fully described simply based on the number of hops, which may result in the selected path being not optimal. Therefore, the RIP Protocol is only applicable to small and medium networks. RIP has become the actual standard for exchanging routing information between gateways, routers, and hosts. Almost all IP Routers support the RIP Protocol.

IGRP proprietary protocol ):

The Interior Gateway Protocol is a distance vector routing information Protocol developed by CISCO. Compared with RIP, IGRP combines bandwidth, latency, reliability, load, and other factors of the network to provide a Hybrid Routing measurement. This method can reflect the path characteristics of the network more realistically, avoiding problems in RIP. IGRP also has the concept of number of hops, but its maximum number of hops is 255, which can be applied to large-scale networks.

OSPF:

Open Shortest Path First (Open Shortest Path First) is a link state routing information protocol. Each OSRP router maintains an identical network topology database from which a shortest path tree can be constructed to calculate the route table. The convergence speed of OSRP is faster than that of RIP, while 22. When updating route information, the traffic generated is also small. To manage large-scale networks, OSRP adopts a hierarchical connection structure. Autonomous Systems are divided into different regions to reduce the time for re-calculation of routes.

BGP:

Border Gateway Routing Information Protocol (Border Gateway Protocol) is a routing information Protocol between autonomous systems AS). Its main function is to exchange network accessibility information with other BGP systems. BGP is an external Gateway Routing Information Protocol that enables non-loop exchange of routing information between autonomous systems. Based on classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR), BGP has been developed to support aggregation and reduction of routing information.

Summary

This chapter describes the basic principles of IP routing and some basic knowledge of routing information protocols. The main function of the routing information protocol is to determine the data transmission path in the network. There are two main types of routing information protocols: Internal Gateway Routing Protocol IGP) and external Gateway Routing Information Protocol EGP ). RIP and IGRP are routing information protocols based on distance vector algorithms, while OSPF is a link state routing information protocol.
