4. Automatic task
① Run automatic tasks
If you have Adobe Creative Suite 2 installed, there are commands in these applications that support automatic tasks in the Tools menu of Adobe Bridge, for example, when you have Photoshop CS2 installed, you can use the tools → The commands in the Photoshop submenu (shown in Figure 24) deal with the pictures, such as packaging the pictures selected in bridge, synthesizing panorama photos, and so on. When you choose a command, you automatically switch to Photoshop and start the appropriate command to process the pictures, and if Photoshop is not running, Photoshop will run automatically.
The advantage of this feature is that when you select a picture in bridge, you can use the corresponding commands in Photoshop to process the picture without having to open each file separately, thereby saving the user's time.
② Image Batch Renaming
Use Adobe Bridge to rename a group of files or folders in bulk. When renaming, you can make the necessary settings for the file name. Batch renaming can greatly save users ' time. Action steps are as follows.
Select the file or folder you want to rename, select menu command "Tools" → "Batch Rename" (tools → batch name), and then make the necessary settings in the Open dialog box, as shown in Figure 25.
Set Target folder
We can choose from the following three ways as needed.
- Rename in same folder: Renaming in the same folders. Selecting this item will rename the selected file directly in its folder.
- Move to Other folder: Moves to a different file. Selecting this item moves the file to a different folder and then changes the name. Click the browse button below to select the destination folder you want to move to.
- Copy to the other folder: copied to the other folders. Select this to copy the original file to another folder and then rename it so that the original file is retained as is. Click the browse button below to select the destination folder you want to copy to.
For example, select Copy to Other folder, click the Browse button below, select a destination folder in the Open dialog box, or create a new folder in the dialog box, as shown in Figure 25.
Format a new file name
First, select an element in the leftmost Drop-down list, such as the opening text of the file name, the new extension, the current filename, the date, the serial number, the sequence letter, and so on. Then enter or select the necessary text or options on the right side, and use the rightmost plus minus sign to add or remove the new file name format.
Here, the settings shown in Figure 25 indicate that the file name will begin with "Test", followed by an automatic sequence number, so that the renamed filename should be "test1.jpg", "test2.jpg", "test3.jpg" ... by analogy.
If you select the check box "Preserve current file name in XMP Metadata", you can retain the original file name in Metadata information.
Compatibility: Select a compatible platform, default to Windows, and choose Mac OS, Unix.
At the bottom shows the change in the file name before and after the comparison, if you do not want to change the results, you can change the above settings at any time. So when the options are set, when you click the "Rename" button, bridge starts working automatically.
