Summary
Throughout the installation process, DB2 is a user data source. We put the sample data in the gs_db database of DB2, and
The Administration has configured the data source.
Cognos connection is a Cognos portal that provides a unified portal for information integration and user access. The administrator can use it to manage users and roles.
Management, server configuration, permission control, and other management functions. End users can access folders, reports, and personalized exhibitions through Cognos connection.
Access the content of Cognos viewer, report studio, Business Insight, and event studio.
Report studio is a professional report production module. Report makers can use this tool to create various types of reports, including unbalanced reports with Chinese characteristics.

Charts, dynamic dashboards, and KPI reports. Report makers can design by page. Each page can have multiple queries, and each query can connect to multiple data sources.
To heterogeneous data sources. The report content is simplified and simplified, allowing you to precisely control the attributes of each object in the report.
Business Insight is a custom dashboard tool for business users. Users can drag and drop any Cognos Bi content (including query, report, analysis, TM1
Datasets) to form a custom dashboard.
Cognos framework manager is a client development tool dedicated to metadata management. It can connect to multiple data sources.
OLAP, database, and other data sources, and provides metadata customization and management, security control, and other related control.
Figure 28. Architecture and working principle of IBM Cognos Bi Developer Edition
When you run the first simple report, IBM Cognos Bi Developer Edition runs as follows:
1. In the IBM Cognos framework manager tool, The Modeler ensures that metadata is organized in a way that business personnel can understand.
. The Modeler imports metadata from one or more databases and adds the metadata to the model according to business requirements.
2. modelers publish model data packets to IBM Cognos connection, so that report developers can use them to create reports and
Dashboard. For example, the "go Data Warehouse (query)" data packet in this tutorial.
3. Business personnel and report developers use published data packets to understand business data.
4. the user runs, views, and manages their content on the IBM Cognos connection. Based on different permissions, they can simply run and view reports
Tables, management plans, portal presentations, etc.
