Experiences of using clearcase LT (1)

Recently, a project aleis version 2 was organized for development. To effectively manage the design process, we decided to use the version management tool. After comparing wincvs and clearcase lt, we feel that the latter meets the current project requirements. Below are some brief records of some experiences in the application process.

1. installation and configuration of clearcase lt

1. Server Installation
installation environment: Windows2000 advance server (SP4), inspur p70 server, and web server.
settings of the Domain Server: Set it to a Domain Server When configuring the server. For details about the configuration process, see relevant books. The configuration process is fine, but it is a little troublesome during maintenance. If the server is in a large domain environment or LAN, for example, I am a self-built server on the campus network, for Web services and internal backup data (it should be very insecure, litter money, no way), then you can add a IP address 192.168.0.0. Add the clearcase_users user group according to the manual.
Software Installation: Follow the manual to install License Server and clearcase lt Server versions. If floating license is used, install license server. If conditions are met, the License Server can be installed on one server at a single end to improve performance. My installation on the same server is not a big problem. If the fix license is used, install it on the client machine.
problem diagnosis: If no problem occurs during the above process, you can use this server. Start the Administrator console of clearcase. Start the clearcase doctor to diagnose configuration problems encountered during software running, which are highlighted in red.

2. Client installation

Installation environment: Windows2000 profesional (SP4), P4 2.4g.

Client settings: The software environment client must first be added to the domain. In order to improve the access speed in the domain, it is best to set or add an IP address in the same segment as the server in the Client IP address, DNS also needs to add the IP address of the server (for example, 192.168.0.0 ). After successful addition, do not immediately use a domain user to use the client. To set the permissions of the user, it is best to add the user to the Administrator team to facilitate later installation of software, rather than switching users. Add the clearcase_group environment variable according to the manual.

Software Installation: it is best to install it directly on a CD. If you use the fix license, you must first install the license Sever. If floating license is used, a prompt is displayed during the installation process. Follow the instructions to install the SDK.

Problem diagnosis: After the installation is complete, start the clearcase doctor on the local machine to find out if there are any problems.
