Today, let's take a look at the security configurations in the wireless router.

Let's start with wireless routers. There are many brands of wireless routers on the market. The login methods for different brands of wireless routers may be slightly different. These are described in their respective manuals, if you lose the manual, you can download an electronic manual on the official website of the wireless router.

OK. Now let's log on to the wireless router. In this article, I will look at the security settings of the wireless router with a lot of LinkSys Wireless routers on the market as an example.

The LinkSys Wireless Router uses a smart Wizard to set up a wireless router to help you. Therefore, many friends may not know how many IP addresses they have configured, but even the IP addresses of the wireless router. Here is a simple method to obtain this information. In most cases, the Windows operating system is used. You can open a Dos window in the command line window) and input ipconfig to display all the information you need. The Default Gateway you see is usually the IP address of the wireless router. In this example, it is "192.168.8.1 ". The default gateway is the place where all data destined for the Internet goes through.

WPA-Preshared key

WPA-Preshared key WPS-PSK): WiFi Protected Access is a very safe way to protect your data. Through its encryption, each data packet transmitted between your wireless router and your wireless network adapter will be packaged and encapsulated by a different key. This means that even if someone intercepts your data packets and cracks the encrypted string, they cannot read other data parts. Because the same encrypted string duplication is unlikely.

Now some of the latest wireless routers have started to use WPA2, which upgrades the encryption key from 24 bits to 48 bits. It is impossible to copy a key. In this safe mode, the Preshared key indicates that you set a password for the authorized users. After they enter the password, their devices process other security operations. I personally suggest that you use phrases related to your own password, and it is best to include spaces and punctuation characters in this phrase. The longer the password length, the less likely it will be to be guessed by others.

The AES encryption algorithm is recommended by the author, because AES uses 128-bit, 192-bit, and 256-bit keys to obtain the best security. Some wireless routers allow you to select the length of the key. This LinkSys Wireless Router does not have a 256-bit standard by default. TKIP is not an encryption algorithm, but a "Key Exchange" protocol. Although it is safe, it is not as strong as AES and will reduce the connection speed because it will put an extra burden on the processor. TKIP is a software-based protocol, while AES is hardware-based.
