Google | Internet 2005 years ago, Winton Vinton Cerf suddenly felt that he had spent too much time on the Internet infrastructure, and now he wants to go back to Internet apps.
Thinking of knowing Eric Schmidt, Google's chief executive, Winton wrote an e-mail message:
"Eric, May I help you?" "(Eric,do you want some help? )
"Yes" (yes)
Winton to join the Google Company, "This is my career in the shortest job interview."
March 1 TCP/IP joint designers, known as the "Father of the Internet" Winton Cove (Vinton Cerf) received donews.com visits, some of the records are as follows:
1. Why do scientists like you join Google?
Winton: Part of the reason is that I want to go back to the application field. Because in my career, I have spent a lot of time doing the Internet infrastructure.
My main partner, Babakam, has spent 8 years doing Internet applications, such as digital library projects. But then it went to help the telecoms industry build some basic infrastructure for the Internet. Then I decided to go back to the Internet application area.
I looked at all the internet companies and discovered that Google was the most innovative, and I've known Google's CEO Schmidt for 25 years.
2, as the Chief Internet Evangelist (Chief Internet evangelist) What do you do in Google?
First, popularize the internet in all parts of the world. There are still 5.5 billion people in the world who do not have Internet access.
Second, to help Google develop its development strategy in various markets, I think that Google's success in China does not need to change values, because Google is the best way to mix information is known, this is the same in China.
Third, participate in the recruitment, "I also went to Tsinghua University yesterday."
Four, to Google in the world around the engineering Center, and engineers to communicate.
Review other companies ' products and services to see if Google will be interested and cooperate with them.
3. What other jobs are there outside of Google?
At present, I have three main jobs: Google, the Air Propulsion Laboratory and the chairmanship of ICNN. These three jobs take up a lot of my time, thanks to my employers who have been very nice to me and have given me a lot of time to work outside of my job.
I will retire from the ICNN after the end of the calendar year, when I will devote more time to Google's work, and work on the interstellar Internet in the Air Propulsion Laboratory will continue.
4, you are over six years still a number of jobs, enough energy?
I have two tips: first I think sleeping is a waste of time, so sleep should be as short as possible. Second, once you're in a high-speed state, don't slow down, like you're 900 miles an hour, and if it slows down, it's definitely an accident.
5, the design of the internet did not think of today's various problems, such as inadequate address and so on?
My idea at the time was to design an experimental network, if the experiment was successful, to design a commercial web. Results The experimental network has been developed after the development, and into commercial.
Today, the development of the network has indeed exceeded expectations, so we redesigned the IPv6. There is no technical barrier to the implementation of this technology, but there are commercial barriers. Only when the majority of users say they want to use IPv6, it is possible to scale commercial. This is a very fast pace in China. Perhaps many users only want to use the address. From this we see that users can push a lot of technology forward, but also may let the technology advance sluggish.
6, TCP/IP will not replace?
TCP/IP does not work on the interstellar Internet because it interrupts interstellar transmission, but the TCP/IP protocol is still valid on Earth. If there is a better deal in the future, I may occasionally regret, but most of the time I will be happy
