Fedora 13 14 hard drive installation (for Windows XP)

 

If you don't need to talk about it, go to the topic. The method described here is suitable for installing fedora 14 or similar Linux in XP.

1. Download:

Download grub4dos software: Address (http://sourceforge.net/projects/grub4dos)

Download fedora14, live-CD or DVD: Address (https://fedoraproject.org/get-fedora)

2. Preparation

Take installing the system on the C drive as an example:

1. Put the grldr file in grub4dos downloaded to drive C.

2. format your d disk in FAT32 format (to prevent false positives)

3. Put menu. lst in grub4dos into the root directory of disk D.

4. decompress the downloaded ISO image to the D disk directory.

3. Modify

1. Add

Title install fedora 14

Kernel (hd0, 4)/isolinux/vmlinuz root = live:/dev/sda5 liveimg quiett rhgb

 

Rootfstype = auto VGA = 791

Initrd (hd0, 4)/isolinux/initrd. img

Note: If you download livecd, you should change it

Title install fedora 14

Kernel (hd0, 4)/isolinux/vmlinuz0 root = live:/dev/sda5 liveimg quiett rhgb

 

Rootfstype = auto VGA = 791

Initrd (hd0, 4)/isolinux/initrd0.img

3. Modify the boot. ini file under drive C (enable hidden visibility)

Add in Boot. ini

C:/grldr = "fedora 14"

4. Restart

Remember to select "fedora 14" when selecting the OS during restart"

Go to the grub interface and select the last install fedora 14

 

In this case, the installation environment can be successfully guided (livecd enters the live mode and can be seen on the desktop ).

Note: (hd0, 4) indicates the D disk, (hd0, 0) indicates the C disk, then (hd0, 5) indicates the E disk, and so on.

Also, root =/dev/sda5 is based on the previous (hd0, 4). If the E disk is (hd0, 5) root =/dev/sda6. Details

That VGA = 791 is used to set the command line resolution, 791 (10 hexadecimal) = 0x317 (16 hexadecimal)

3. # Rhgb = RedHat graphical boot-this is a GUI mode booting screen with most of the information hidden while the user sees a rotating activity icon spining and brief information as to what the computer is doing.
4. This is the RedHat graphic startup. This option allows you to see a rotating dynamic icon and brief information without displaying most of the startup information in Gui mode.
