Environment: Fedora Linux 16
Problem Description: Fedora linux16 with root user login, enter password validation failure, even if your password is correct, this situation will occur, this is because Fedora Linux by default prohibit root super user.
Solution:
The first attempt to use Repair mode to modify the root password, but still does not work after the reboot.
The following modifications are now:
into Repair mode, enter the following command to modify:
1. Input command: VI/ETC/PAM.D/GDM, in the text editor (enter I to enter edit mode) Comment out the line "Auth required pam_succeed_if.so user!= root Quiet" (preceded by "#" in this line, Change to #auth required pam_succeed_if.so user!= root quiet);
2. Press ESC key;
3. Enter a colon (:)
4 input command: WQ, save and exit, continue typing command: Vi/etc/pam.d/gdm-password the same comment out "auth required pam_succeed_if.so user!= root quiet" this line, save and exit.
5. Input command: Reboot
6. You can now log in using root to resolve.
