Fedora will default to use Python 3

The Fedora Engineering Steering Committee voted to accept the proposal to use Python 3 as the default Python implementation version. In addition, Fedora's package manager will switch from Yum to DNF. The argument for using Python 3 or Python 2.6 by default is largely incompatible, creating a problem for Python's project migration.

The Python 3 branch, which has been actively developed for five years since its release in 2008, is mature and stable, and the Python 2 branch that is still in maintenance does not add new features, only bugs and security fixes, and its earliest version was released in 2000.
