Fedora Xfce 23 thunar does not display file thumbnails, but I don't know what it is like ?,
Fedora is a test version of Redhat Based on Redhat. The default desktop environment of Fedora workstation is Gnome. The Fedora with Xfce as the desktop environment is relatively lightweight. However, the Xfce Fedora without configuration is very simple.
Thanks to the emergence of the Fedora source, some windows applications (such as Netease cloud music, Fuxin Reader and Adobe Reader) can also be seen on Fedora Linux, instead of spending more time installing and configuring Wine.
I don't know why the network signal and connection speed of Xfce Fedora 23 are poor. The command line software package management tool dnf does not have some functions of the previous generation software package management tool yum, for example, dependent query ......
What's strange is that the Thunar File Manager is lazy and does not display thumbnails of images, videos, documents, and other files. The image browser Ristretto does not display thumbnails ......, Later, I found a solution to this problem on the Wiki, saying that Thunar already supports thumbnails. Just install tumbler. However, it is useless to install tumbler and thunar-thumbnailers (this is no longer available in the system source and needs to be compiled manually, so there are not many simple dependencies. But somehow? Because my Arch Linux does not look like this.
I wonder if it is caused by system security policy problems? Or are more related libraries or plug-ins not installed? Or do I need to re-compile and install the thunar or thunar plug-ins? The thunar of Ubuntu xfce4 desktop environment is also like this, and the network management applet on the panel is gone. This problem has been plagued for a long time ......
I tried to manually compile and install Thunar and tumbler. I didn't expect Thunar to display the thumbnail of the file.
Thunar re-compilation and installation are not required. To display file thumbnails, some plug-ins are enabled when you manually compile tumbler. On the Fedora system, this is supported by the library corresponding to the installation file.
Compile tumble <=> to obtain the tumbler source code --> unlock the source code package and enter the source code directory./configure -- enable-debug
Because the default prefix is/usr/local, You can omit this option if it is not installed elsewhere.
However, before compiling tumbler, it is necessary to install the library corresponding to tumbler Plugins, If You Want To enable thumbnail support.
The output after./configure is shown below. To support Thunar, you only need to use dnf to install the corresponding library.
* GdkPixbuf thumbnailer plugin: yes
* Cover thumbnailer plugin: no --> libcurl-devel
* FreeType font thumbnailer plugin: yes -->
* JPEG thumbnailer plugin with EXIF support: no --> libexif-devel libjpeg-turbo-utils libjpeg-turbo-devel
* Video thumbnailer plugin using ffmpegthumbnailer: no --> ffmpegthumbnailer-devel
* Video thumbnailer plugin using GStreamer: no --> gstreamer-devel gstreamer1-devel
* ODF thumbnailer plugin using libgsf: no --> libgsf-devel
* PDF/PS thumbnailer plugin using poppler: no --> poppler-devel poppler-glib-devel
* RAW thumbnailer plugin using libopenraw: no --> libopenraw-devel libopenraw-gnome-devel libopenraw-pixbuf-loader libopenraw-gnome
* Freeyuntop.org cache plugin: yes
The Thunar compilation process is somewhat similar to the compilation and installation of tumbler. The parameters used by the configure options for compilation
Cd Thunar-1.6.6;./configure -- eanble-debug -- sysconfdir =/etc
X11 library --> libX11 libX11-devel
Exo-devel
Support for thumbnails --> tumbler-devel tumbler-extras perl-Data-Tumbler
Panel notification support --> startup-notification-devel startup-notification libnotify-devel libgudev
Panel recycle bin support> xfce4-panel-devel
Session support> xfce4-session-devel
Thunar plugin --> gtkhash-thunar-vfs-devel thunar-sendto-clamtk thunarx-python thunar-media-tags-plugin thunar-vcs-plugin thunar-vfs
! Manual compilation and installation of tumbler will not take effect immediately. You need to restart X or the system.
Despite the twists and turns, Thunar can display thumbnails in any case.
