FEDORA11 sound card can not be out

Source: Internet
Author: User

These days I have been plagued by a new fedora that has been R61 on the ThinkPad, and searched all kinds of methods on the Internet, all of which were fruitless.

Last night suspected Linux kernel, because kernel is not the latest, so download the latest kernel, compiled a night before loading.

Again tonight on the download of the ALSA source code compiled, due to the latest kernel, there are some problems in the compilation process, either missing some header files (version.h,autoconf.h) or a file does not exist. The solution is to use LOCATE-E <source_file> find the source files already in the system, find the executable file by which, and then create the symbolic link in the target directory and compile it.

After loading the ALSA reboot, set the ALSA drive again through the alsamixer-c 0. The result is found to have been pressing the RIGHT ARROW keys will always have a new item appears, the last one is speaker, these are I used to alsamixer did not find, and this speaker is exactly what I have been distressed. The speaker item by default is Mm,mute or mute, and you must press M to unmute it. After setting up, the sound card can finally be put out.

Although a lot of information found on the Internet does not really work, but still some of these still valid excerpts from the following, readers.

ALSA driver update (hard fix, recommended for advanced users)

Note:this section assumes a high level of technical proficiency. Please fix it.

At www.asla-project.org, did and download only alsa-driver-1.0.14? That and alsa-lib-1.0.14a?

Download Alsa-driver, Alsa-kernel, Alsa-lib, and Alsa-utils, according to Http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/AlsaCVS. Other sources, however, say only the driver is necessary. Perhaps Alsa-project.org simply recommends the other two?

How did do you compile it from source? How did do you add the patch?

In the short, please explain how do you did this things in addition to just telling us for you what. I´m not trying to is rude but seriously, not all Linux users are programmers;). Hi, SteveSims 22:19, August 2007 (UTC)

After upgrading to 1.0.14 I still had no sound, and this took about a week to solved (though it is so sadly obvious h). Just upgrading to Alsa 1.0.14 would not be enough, there were a few patches "right after" release "that fix t He Thinkpad ' s. The reason I missed this is because it is the same day so the release of of 1.0.14!

VERY simple method of making SOUND WORK [http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=159516&page=1&pp=15] Just Follow the instructions step, except for two small things:when doing "CP. /PATCH_ANALOG.C alsa-driver-1.0.14/alsa-kernel/pci/hda/"Use" CP. /patch_analog.c alsa-kernel/pci/hda/"instead. Also, when you are the part about modifying the/etc/modprobe.conf file, it doesn ' t exist in Ubuntu. Adding "Options Snd-hda-intel index=0 model=thinkpad" to any file (even one your make yourself) INSIDE/ETC/MODPROBE.D Shou LD work. I personally added it to the options file, and it works fine. (This is the case in Fedora 11, too, and the solution should be to create a *.conf file under/etc/modprobe.d/, or add it to the dist.conf.) )

-hotkeys Control mic Volume, not speaker volume for some reason. I don't know how to fix this--If you are using Gnome, from the System menu, click Preferences-> Sound, and in the De Fault Mixer Tracks field, choose PCM. (This option is not available in the sound of Fedora 11.) )

-this fix should provide sound for both headphones and speakers.

Sure these packages are installed (System-> administration-> Synaptic Package Manager): Automake, Auto Config, CVS, Libtool, Python-dev, build-essential

Then Download the source code to the Alsa-driver and apply this patches: (links to the revisions)

To see which ALSA modules are installed: rpm-qa|grep alsa

View sound card information : lspci|grep Audio

The other is commonly used alsamixer and amixer.

There are other versions of the previous version of Fedora 10 that are basically obsolete, mostly removed from fedora (for example, alsaconf is no longer supported). Looks like Fedora 11 can only use Alsamixer to set up the sound card, Preferences-> sound function is very weak.
