One of the reasons why SQL Server was used as the primary database instead of MySQL was that the single-machine SQL Server performance was much stronger than MySQL, and another reason was that most of the previous customer's system administrators had only SQL Server maintenance experience. But after MySQL 8.0 was officially released, the research and development team was all over, after all, MySQL has many advantages over SQL Sever (compact, cross-platform, etc.), and the new version of MySQL8.0 performance has increased twice times. and UTF8-MB4 as the default character encoding (to avoid the Emoji expression of the cell phone is garbled), so we decided to try to migrate the development environment from the current SQL Server to MySQL 8.0 above.
Taking the WINDOWS10 environment as an example, it is outlined as follows:
1, the previous version of MySQL needs to use the. NET Framework 4.0, while MySQL 8.0 uses the. NET Framework 4.5.2;
2, MySQL 8.0 installed after the default encryption method is Caching_sha2_password, so the old program connected to MySQL will be the corresponding error, the connection Dynamic Library (MySql.Data.dll) update to the latest version can be;
3. Use the DB2DB tool to migrate data from SQL Server to MySQL 8.0. The advantage of using this tool is that you can put the main types of databases (such as: SQL Sever, SQLite, MySQL, Postgressql ...). Migrated to MySQL 8.0 and later migrated back to the mainstream type database from MySQL 8.0, avoiding the problem that MySQL 8.0 officials said could not downgrade.
At present, the software is running well in MySQL 8.0, and there are no other problems to be used in the meantime, follow up later.
Finally successfully migrated SQL Server to MySQL8.0!!!
