Server Configuration

Select "file/server configuration". The dialog box is displayed:

　　Set Port

As a server, FinchSync requires your computer to open the TCP/IP Port. The client uses this port for Link and synchronization. The port number can be from 0 to 65535, and each program can have only one port at a time.

The FinchSync protocol communicates with each other over HTTP. The current port is 8080. if a proxy server or another service occupies this port, you will receive an error message: Address already in use: JVM_Bind.

Theoretically, you can choose any number between 0 and 65535 as the port. In fact, most of the numbers are retained due to some specific services, such as FTP and NETBIOS. You can view the specific port list here.

It is better to replace ports before 8080 and 8087. Try any of the ports until there is no error message. Remember to restart the software when you update the configuration.

If your system has a firewall, you must open the specified port. When the firewall prompts "Java" or "FinchSync" to open the port, You must select "allow". Otherwise, the client cannot be linked to the server.

　　Note: Please note that there is a potential risk of viruses and Trojan Horse intrusion when you open the port!

If you connect to the Internet through a router, the open port is generally identified for the Internet. (If You Want To synchronize data over the Internet, you need to install a route with the reverse port transmission function. View the routing instructions for more information. Note: You can enable the port function in the route, for example, enable port 4662 of the donkey .)

If you connect to the Internet through a modem, the Internet can identify the opened port and hackers will try to connect to FinchSync. Although login requires a password and hackers are unlikely to use general technologies, such as buffer-overflow, to undermine Java security, this possibility should be mentioned here. (By the way, all the software that provides network services poses a potential risk to your computer .)

Don't connect to the Internet. You can avoid this problem.

　　Set Administrator Account

The FinchSync server has a small network interface. If there is a problem with the connection between your PocketPC and the server, you can try whether PocketOutlook can connect to this interface.

You can also log on to this interface to close the connection. If the server is running, you can connect to the webpage through the following address:

Http: // <ip >:< port>/status

For example:

Http: // 192.168.1.1: 8080/status
