Hannu CarI, a professor at Helsinki Polytechnic University, believes that the global Internet system is likely to crash within two years if it cannot immediately curb the rapid increase in viruses and spam.
Cary pointed out that viruses and spam are growing at an explosive rate and will eventually surpass the network's capacity. At the same time, the information credibility provided by the Internet is constantly decreasing, and malicious attacks by hackers also make the network operation more stable. These factors may lead to the final collapse of the Internet system.
Cary also stressed that effective preventive measures, such as strengthening network infrastructure construction and further improving internal setup and program protection facilities, must be taken from now on to ensure the normal operation of the Internet in the future.
Several European and American antivirus companies, such as Finland F-security and the United States Network Corporation, recently pointed out that the following types of computer viruses are currently damaged through the Internet: the "Pakistan brain" virus, the "Morris worm" virus, the "Shock Wave worm" and the "great promise" virus, the "Mydoom" virus, and the "Shock Wave" virus.
