Add a high light below the add shape. Use pen to draw an arc, use the Strokes of Figure 1, and wash the ends of the arc with the path scrubbing tool-Remove. Use the Path Scrubbing tool-add to make the middle of the arc bold.
Clone this arc, "flip vertically" and move to the top of the entire shape, changing the parameters. This adds a high light to the top.
