Objective
Fix a "Terminal server exceeds maximum allowed connections" issue when you troubleshoot Remote Desktop Connection to Windows Server 2003.
Environment
Os:windows Server 2003
Configuration
1. Before you begin, make sure your server is connected to the Internet;
2. Open the Windows Components Wizard ( add /Remove Windows Components , start-up Control Panel, add or Remove Programs );
3. Install Terminal Server Licensing (the installation steps are skipped);
4. Open Terminal Server Licensing (start with management tools, Terminal Server Licensing );
5. Right-click on your server (I'm htxw-d592e04861 here), then click on "Properties", on the "Installation Method" tab, install method Select "Web browser" and note the product ID;
6. In the "Required Information" tab, press fill in the information (you'd better press my fill, otherwise there's a problem don't call me), then click "OK";
7. Open the https://activate.microsoft.com, at this time is the English interface, the reader can follow the method to change the Chinese language interface;
8. Tick "Enable license Server" (default) and click "Next";
9. Enter the product ID that you just noted, other press fill , and then click "Next";
11. At this point, the license server ID appears, write it down, and click "Yes";
12. Select "Enterprise Agreement" in the license program and click "Next";
13. In the Product type select "Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server" Per user "Client Access License", the number can be filled (but also do not fill too large), the enterprise agreement can be filled 6565792, 4954438, 6879321, 5296992 any of these four, and then click Next;
15. Note The license key pack ID and click "End";
16. Go back to "Terminal Server Licensing", right click on your server, and then click "Activate Server" (click "Next", when you need to fill in the license server ID and the license key pack ID will write the two ID that you just noted );
17. When the activation is complete, we can see the product information we just applied for on Microsoft website.
18. Open Add/Remove Programs Add/Remove Windows Components again, tick Terminal Server, and then click Next;
19. Click "Next" two times, then press fill, then click "Next";
20. Select "Per User licensing mode" and click "Next";
21. Finally click "Finish";
22. Open "Terminal Server Configuration", as shown in the settings;
23. After the configuration, it is best to restart, after restarting you will find that you can now use the same user to connect to the server more than once!
If you think this is the end of the configuration, then you are wrong, because we have cracked the number of connections, but each connected user if not through the normal way out (logout), it would be a waste of server resources, so we need a little configuration. The configuration method is as follows:
1. Open "Terminal Server Configuration";
2. Right-click on "Rdp-tcp" on the right, then "properties";
3. In the Sessions tab, tick override user settings, select an appropriate time for end disconnected session and idle session limit, and then click OK. "
