Part Three: Flash 8 blending mode

New blending mode is added to the Flash8, allowing us to handle blending patterns between objects as we do in Photoshop. About the mixed mode, I believe that familiar with Photoshop friends must know very well, today let us see what Flash8 bring us what kind of blending mode. When the color channels of two images are mixed together in some mathematical calculation, two images have a special effect. The blending modes of layers, dimming, color multiplication, brightening, screen, overlay, glare, add, subtract, diff, invert, Alpha, erase, etc. are provided in the Flash8, as shown in Figure 1. It should be noted that blending mode can only be applied to movie clips and button symbols.

Figure 1

We introduce several of these blending modes. To help us observe the effects of blending mode, first import two pictures, and then convert one of the pictures to the movie clip symbol (press the F8 key). Select the movie clip symbol, and in the properties panel you will see the blending option become available.

Darken: When you apply this mode, you see the color information in the object and select the darker color in the base or blend color as the result color. pixels lighter than the blend color are replaced, and pixels darker than the blend color remain unchanged, as shown in Figure 2.

Figure 2

Color multiplication: This mode is used to view the color information in the object and to compound the base colors with the blend color. The result color is always the darker color. Any color combined with black produces black. Any color with white compound remains unchanged. The effect is shown in Figure 3.

Figure 3

Lighten: When you apply this mode, you see the color information in the object and select the lighter color in the base or blend color as the result color. pixels darker than the blend color are replaced, and pixels that are brighter than the blend color remain unchanged. As shown in Figure 4.

Figure 4

Screen: Multiply the base color by the inverse color of the blend color, resulting in a bleaching effect.

Figure 5

Overlay: Compound or filter colors, depending on the base color. The pattern or color is superimposed on an existing pixel, while preserving the contrast of the base color. The base color is not replaced, but the primary color is mixed with the blend hue to reflect the brightness or darkness of the original color.

Figure 6

Strong light: Composite or filtered color, depending on the blend color. This effect is similar to the dazzling spotlight on the image.

If the blend color (light source) is brighter than 50% gray, the image is lightened, just like the filtered effect. This is useful for adding high light to the image. If the blend color (light source) is darker than 50% gray, the image darkens, just like the composite effect. This is useful for adding a darkened tone to an image. Painting with pure black or pure white produces pure black or pure white.

Figure 7

Add: Adds a blend color based on the base color. As shown in Figure 8.

Figure 8

Subtract: Remove the blend color from the base color. As shown in Figure 9.

Figure 9

Difference: Removes the blend color from the base color or removes the base color from the blend color. Remove the lower-brightness color from a higher-brightness color, depending on which color has a greater brightness. Blending with white will reverse the value of the base color, and blending with black does not change. As shown in Figure 10.

Figure 10

Invert: Reverse Displays the datum color, as shown in Figure 11.

Figure 11

Alpha: Transparent display datum color, as shown in Figure 12.

Figure 12

Erase: Erases the color in the movie clip, showing the lower color, as shown in Figure 13.

Figure 13

Here we make an animation effect that is formed by a different blending mode.

Still take the two pictures as an example, place the movie clip picture separately in Layer 2, another picture as the background layer. Press the F6 key on the 90th frame of the background layer and Layer 2 to insert the keyframe, and then insert the keyframe on the 18, 37, 55, 72 frames of Layer 2. As shown in Figure 14.

Figure 14

Set the picture blending mode on each key frame to "darken", "color multiplication", "lighten", "overlay", "invert" and "subtract", then create a motion tween between keyframes, and finally form a simple image blending mode animation. As you can see, Flash8 is much more capable of image processing than ever before, and you can create more colorful animations with filters and blending modes.
