The changes in cartoon rendering methods are better adapted to simple and complex shapes. If you are not very proficient with lines and hand-drawn operations, this technique may be more appropriate for you. You will use the ink bottle tool to create a contour line for your fill. Then you can rearrange the line and fill it with a slightly darker color.

1. Start using the Ink Bottle tool (I) and choose a color that is not the same as any one in your design. Sets the line color thickness to around 3 to 4. Click inside the fill and add contour lines to it with the color you choose. Do not worry that it can be seen, because eventually, when you are finished, you will delete the lines.

2. Select the line with the selection tool and double-click it. Next, use the arrow keys to move the line away from the original position to the direction of your light source. Fills the area between the contour line and the original shape with a darker color.

3. Click the (D) key to remove all contour lines. If your contour has lost focus, double-click it with the selection tool. Double-click the contour to select all, and if clicked then there are multiple transitions in the contour that will only be selected as part of the line.

4. For the character's clothes, I'm better off adding a contour line to it.

5. Select the contour line to readjust the light source in the previous example.

6. A darker dark color mixture fills the body structure and the realistic image.

7. Delete the contour line if it is still selected. Perhaps the final shape needs some distortion.

8. Use the selection tool to further fine-tune your shadow to the effect you need.

Tips:

Set thicker contour lines for your work. A larger value will make it easier for you to select it. Choose a lighter color for your original graphic to form a higher contrast so that the vision will be more realistic
