4G new-generation broadband wireless network investment

Cao Shumin, member of the CPPCC National Committee and vice president of the Institute of Telecommunications, said yesterday that, as the only major national science and technology project in the communication industry, "Next-generation broadband wireless mobile communication network" will obtain at least 2 billion yuan of national financial investment this year and next, and the initial funding for enterprises and local support is estimated to be about 10 billion yuan.

This project supports the evolution of 3G enhanced technology, TDD-LTE, and TD to 4G. Cao Shumin pointed out that this project is a long-term plan for 2020, focusing on the development of a new generation broadband mobile communication system with massive communication capabilities, including 3G but not limited to 3G, it mainly targets long-term technological evolution such as LTE and 4G.

From the perspective of the special investment cycle of major science and technology, it will continue until 2020. The national investment is expected to reach 20 billion yuan, and the investment of local and enterprise will reach 100 billion yuan.

Cao Shumin pointed out that, in addition, the next-generation Internet phase II project also began to be launched. In a few years, only the national investment will reach 2 billions or 3 billions yuan. The project is led by the National Development and Reform Commission and involves seven ministries and commissions. The development of the next generation broadband wireless mobile communication network will promote a new era of communication anytime, anywhere, anyone, and any means, which will effectively promote the industry transformation.

Zheng Jie, National People's Congress representative and general manager of China Mobile Shanghai company, told the "First Financial Daily" that the 4G evolution-oriented TD-LTE test network plans to be tested in the Expo next year, this will be China Mobile's first 4G trial commercial network.

According to the plan, the expo park will achieve full coverage of TD network 100%, at the same time, China Mobile will test TD-LTE mobile communication technology (4G) in the Expo Park, as well as a variety of new businesses and new technologies.

LTE is a mainstream technology for the evolution of TD and WCDMA from 3G to 4G.
