Today we will study the maintenance of the Active Directory database, as you all know, under%systemroot%\ntds\ there is a Ntds.dit file, this file is our ad database, but in this directory, there are some other documents, what are these to do? Furthermore, if my ad database is out of order, how can I fix it? Also, can you move the ad database to a location? How to optimize the ad database? With these questions, let's take a look at today's lesson!
(i) The process of modifying the Active Directory data: (The specific modification process is shown in the following illustration)
In C:\windows\ntds\ (if the system is installed in C disk) directory There are several files, database Ntds.dit, log file Edb.log, this file is the largest 10M, when not enough will generate Edb00001.log files, which are written to this file when users are created or deleted (in fact, the cache is first written out) and then written to Edb.log and Ntds.dit, and the action is credited to the Edb.chk file. When the C disk space is not enough, the system deletes the Res1.log and res2.log two files, so that 20M space is available.
(ii) Optimization of AD databases:
1. Mobile AD Database (enter ad recovery mode, boot F8, select directory Restore Mode)
Application: When C disk space is not enough, can be achieved.
Ntdsutil
Files
Info View information stored in the current database.
Move db to D:\ The operation of the appropriate occasions: the original C disk space is not enough, or in order to improve performance, the database and log files stored separately.
The only moves are: Ntds.dit and Edb.chk.
Move log to D:\ This is a mobile log file, which can normally be stored separately from the log file and db.
