Adobe has established partnerships with Facebook, the world's largest social network, to jointly launch new application development tools for developers.
This set of applications will use Adobe's Flash Platform and the new Facebook-targeted ActionScript 3 client library jointly developed by the two companies. the client library is a free open-source programming language and supports APIs for Facebook apps, including Facebook connect ).
Adran Ludwig, director of the Adobe platform Group, said the company would launch libraries and collect feedback from developers. the library updates and adds new functions based on feedback to help developers create better applications.
The number and type of Flash developers have been growing. Some developers have been focusing on flash, while others are from more traditional fields.
"We see that for traditional developers who are using flash, this process will become very simple. this is quite different from the animation-focused flash five to eight years ago."
Adobe says Flash Player 9 has a market penetration rate of up to 98%. In other words, 98% of all computers connected to the Internet have already installed this program. two months after Flash Player 10 was released, Adobe's research showed that its market penetration has also reached 55%. although the latest report has not yet been released, luwhig predicts that the market penetration rate of Flash Player 10 will exceed 80%. this makes Flash Player 10 the most popular flash player in history.
Writing Facebook applications in Flash is not a new thing. in fact, of the top 20 Facebook applications, 12 are written in flash. the release of new tools will make the process easier.
