This tutorial takes you step by step to create a simple Advanced installed project from the beginning, and finally generate an MSI file package. It is suitable for beginners who have any experience to learn Advanced installed.

Suppose you want to create an installation package and install a simple text file, which is a story you wrote. Create or open a folder named story.txt, and enter a few lines of text as the story content.

1. Create a project

Start the Advanced installed application and select the type of the project we created in the displayed dialog box. Select the simple type and click create project.

The new project has been created. Edit the content below. ClickSaveEnter the file name and target folder, and the generated msi file is stored in this folder. The name of the application project is assumed to be story. aip.

2. Add files

The most important step to create an msi installation package is to add files or folders.

In the left-side pane, click "Folder or Folder" to switch to the page. You need to pay attention to "Application Folder" and "applicationcut Shortcut Folder ".

"Application Folder" can add files and folders used in your Application. This Folder indicates the installation Folder. "Application Shortcut cut Folder" can increase the shortcuts of the Application, it is usually a Help file or URL, which indicates the folder accessed from the Start Menu of windows.

Click the Add file icon on the toolbar, view the project folder, and select the story.txt file.

3. Compile and install

Now we have added files to the project. Now we can compile and generate the MSI Installation File.

Click Build on the toolbar to display the compilation dialog box and start compiling the project.

On the tool bar, click "Export runner" to install the wizard and guide and install the "Export story.txt" file.

Congratulations! You have created Your first AdvancedInstaller msiinstallation file. The story.txt file is installed in C: \ Program Files \ Your Company \ Your Application. You can view the folder and check whether it is correct.

4. Delete the Installation File

You can uninstall the project we just installed by adding and deleting programs on the control panel. Alternatively, click the Run button again in the Advanced Installer program. In the displayed dialog box, select the remove button to uninstall the program. If you have modified the application configuration, you can only delete it in the control panel.

5. Edit the product and company name

Of course, your company and application names should be meaningful and attractive. Let's begin to modify them. Switch to the "Product Details" page in the left-side pane and edit the content.

Compile and run the installation test. Do not forget to uninstall the previous program first.

6. create shortcuts

If you do not create shortcuts for the installation files, it is difficult to find the installation path in programFiles. We will create two shortcut types: Start Menu and desktop shortcut.

Switch to the Files and Folders page.

Click the story.txt file and select new Shortcut cut in the toolbar. A dialog box is displayed, allowing you to customize the new Shortcut.

Modify the shortcut name to "Long Story" and then click OK. The new Shortcut is added to Application Shortcut cut Folder, which means that the menu on the target computer> All Programs> product name is successfully installed.

To install shortcuts on the Desktop of the target computer, select Desktop in the Folder tree and click new Shortcut cut. The file selection dialog box is displayed, allowing you to select the file target creation shortcut.

Select story.txt and click OK. In the displayed dialog box, modify the name and add the new shortcut to the "Desktop" folder. Compile and install and check the installation result.

7. Change product version

At this point, you may want to release a new version, which may fix some previous version problems. Advanced Installer is very easy to implement.

First, open the story.txt file and add several lines of text. Assume that the new version is modified correctly.

Switch to the "Product Details" Page and edit the "Product Version" file to "2.0.0 ".

When you compile, save, or select another page, the system prompts that a new product code will be generated. If you want to upgrade the new installation package automatically, the system will answer "yes ". Select "No" if you want two versions that exist on the target computer ".
