The influence of Alibaba Cloud in the IDC circle and the breadth of product scope have seriously affected the interests of many host vendors. Following this trend, we are constantly increasing product categories and extending various peripheral services, many domestic host providers and enterprise-class host providers must adjust their original marketing and product models. However, for most users, the increased competition will reduce our costs. For example, choosing a virtual host or a VPS server is cheaper.
There are two Alibaba Cloud ECS servers with MB memory configuration in the hands of Chiang, but currently the lowest configuration scheme is 1 GB memory, relatively speaking, the old configuration scheme is rare and needs to be retained, however, the two machines are a waste. Old Jiang is going to upgrade one machine on his hand to the current 1 GB memory solution, and another machine is not going to be renewed.
In addition, in this article, we plan to record the process of upgrading Alibaba Cloud ECS servers, including routine application operations such as renewing and reinstalling the system, this is because it is a little difficult for many friends who use Alibaba Cloud servers for the first time.
1. Alibaba Cloud ECS upgrade configuration
When purchasing any VPS or server, we can purchase an appropriate low-configuration solution based on the actual project needs in the initial stage. We need to upgrade the configuration according to the project's growth.
Here we enter the currently running server, as shown in the figure above. Click the "upgrade/downgrade" link of the corresponding machine to upgrade or downgrade the current server.
We can see the options shown in the figure above. You can directly upgrade the configuration, upgrade the bandwidth, or upgrade the bandwidth at the same time. According to the meaning of this article, Lao Jiang intends to upgrade and renew, but in order to demonstrate the integrity, I will only upgrade here. So select the first one and click continue.
Here we select the CPU memory configuration according to our need, because I configure the MB memory scheme by default. Here we need to upgrade to 1 GB memory. (I originally opened two MB configurations, and two websites with no traffic each have one machine, which is a waste of resources. Therefore, you can save money by putting them together after the upgrade ). If you still need to upgrade the bandwidth, select the upgrade bandwidth and pay according to the calculated price.
After the payment is complete, the upgrade can be completed. If you upgrade the CPU and memory, you need to restart the ECS instance to take effect. If you upgrade the bandwidth, the upgrade will take effect directly.
II. Advance renewal of Alibaba Cloud ECS
We can also renew the instance when upgrading the configuration, but not all users need to upgrade the instance when renewing the instance. Because many of them will directly renew the original configuration before expiration, how can we renew Alibaba Cloud ECS?
Here we can see that the upgraded 1 GB memory solution has taken effect. If you need to renew it, click the "renew" link.
We can choose the monthly, yearly, or 2-3-year renewal method. The annual payment is more cost-effective. You only need to pay 10 months for one year. If we purchase a new one, we can use

3. Select OS for reinstallation of Alibaba Cloud ECS
In general, if we select the OS system after starting to set up the ECS server and configure the WEB environment, unless there are various unstable security problems or the environment version of the deployed WEB server needs to be upgraded, it is rare to reinstall the system. How can we reinstall the ECS system?
1. Disable the current system
We need to stop the current server first, or we cannot choose to install the new system.
2. Select the system to be reset for installation.
Find the link to change the system disk, select the desired image, and set the ROOT password.
After the settings are complete, click "OK" and wait for the new system to be automatically installed. After installation, you can log on to your account via SSH to reinstall and configure the system environment. If important data exists on our servers, remember to back up data, snapshot backup, and other operations, because all data will be lost after the system is reset.
