I. Overview of Searchview

Searchview is a search box component that allows the user to enter text within a text box and allows the listener to monitor user input, and to perform an actual search through the listener when the user enters the search by submitting it.

Searchview default is to show a search icon, click on the icon to expand the search box, you can also set the icon. You can specify common XML attributes and related methods as shown in the following table when using Searchview.

If you add a companion ListView for Searchview, you can add auto-complete functionality for Searchview.

Ii. Overview of Searchview

Next, a simple example program is used to learn the use of Searchview.

Continue to use the Advancedviewsample module of the Widgetsample project to create a searchview_layout.xml file in the app/main/res/layout/directory populated with the following code snippet:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
              android:layout_width="match_parent"
              android:layout_height="match_parent"
              android:layout_margin="15dp"
              android:orientation="vertical" >

    <SearchView
        android:id="@+id/searchView"
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:iconifiedByDefault="false"
        android:queryHint="请输入搜索内容" />

    <ListView
        android:id="@+id/listView"
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="0dp"
        android:layout_weight="1" />
</LinearLayout>

A Searchview component is defined in the layout file above and a ListView component is defined for the Searchview component, which is used to display a non-AutoComplete list for the Searchview component.

Next, write the operation control code for Searchview and add a listener for it. Create a new Searchviewactivity.java file and load the new layout file above, with the following code:

package com.jinyu.cqkxzsxy.android.advancedviewsample;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.support.v7.app.AppCompatActivity;
import android.text.TextUtils;
import android.widget.ArrayAdapter;
import android.widget.ListView;
import android.widget.SearchView;

public class SearchViewActivity extends AppCompatActivity {
private SearchView mSearchView = null;
private ListView mListView = null;
private String[] mDatas = {"aaa", "bbb", "ccc", "airsaid"};
@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.searchview_layout);
mSearchView = (SearchView) findViewById(R.id.searchView);
mListView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.listView);
mListView.setAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(this,
android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, mDatas));
mListView.setTextFilterEnabled(true);
//Set search text listening
mSearchView.setOnQueryTextListener(new SearchView.OnQueryTextListener() {
//This method is triggered when the search button is clicked
@Override
public boolean onQueryTextSubmit(String query) {
return false;
}
//Trigger this method when search content changes
@Override
public boolean onQueryTextChange(String newText) {
if (!TextUtils.isEmpty(newText)){
mListView.setFilterText(newText);
}else{
mListView.clearTextFilter();
}
return false;
}
};
}
}

Modify the activated activity, run the program, you can see the interface effect shown on the left.

After you enter content in the search box, you can see the filtering effect shown on the right.

Learn more about Searchview's simple use first, and suggest practicing more.
