In the previous blog, we have a basic understanding of the basic concept of app volumes and usage scenarios, in this blog, will take the reader to learn about the basic configuration and installation of the app volumes section.
Before we begin the introduction of configuration and installation, we need to look at the basic components of app volumes.
APP volumes is mainly divided into four logical components:
App Volumes Manager : the console responsible for assigning and configuring, helping the app Volumes agent to assign apps and writable Volumes agents
App Volumes Agent : The virtual layer of the file system and registry
Appstack Volume (s) : A read-only collection of files that can be applied to a user or computer object and deployed to a VDI or RDSH server
Writable Volume : A user-owned read-write volume that stores user-specific changes in a session can be persisted, and a user may have a writablevolume
From the physical media level, the app Volumes is mainly divided into the manager and agent two parts, in the installation, you need to specify whether the app Volumes Manager or app Volumes Agent installation.
The installation and use of App Volumes is based on the following process: Initial configuration->app Volumes Manager component installation, App Volumes Manager component configuration, App Volumes Agent component Installation- > Application Extraction, Application collection (Appstack) allocation. We will also follow this process to introduce the following

Note: This blog still uses the Cloud volumes installation package to introduce, does not represent the future official product still this. After the release of the official app volumes, the words in the Installation wizard interface such as Cloudvolumes, and even the interface elements will change accordingly.
After you start the App Volumes Installation Wizard, after accepting the license terms, choose whether to do the manager or agent installation, where we select the manager installation

The app volumes server requires a SQL Server database to hold the Appstack and writablevolumes information associated with the agent, and the user can have two choices, either using an existing SQL Server DB instance or the app Volumes Installing a SQL Server Express instance

We chose to have the app Volumes build a SQL Server Express database, install the configuration database, choose to accept the default configuration, start installing the App Volumes Manager application, wait about 5-10 minutes, app Volumes The manager application is installed on the system.
