Installation steps

is basically installed in accordance with "archwiki:beginners" guide (Simplified Chinese).

1. Hardware is Lenovo S4700,intel Pentium (R) D CPU 3.20GHz x 2,2GB memory, 250GB SATA HDD, NVidia GeForce G10 dual-head graphics card.

2. Burn the Archlinux-2012.09.07-dual.iso to a blank CD disc.

3. The hard disk partition is as follows:

4. Boot loader using grub, install to BIOS motherboard system.

Basic Configuration

1. Add a ben user using the AddUser command.

2. Install the sudo package and use the Visudo command to edit the sudo configuration file, allowing wheel user group members to use sudo without a password. Use the following command to join the Ben user to the wheel group:

# gpasswd-a ' WhoAmI ' wheel

3. Switch to the Ben user.

4. Install the xorg package, install the graphics driver, install the fonts, install the GNOME desktop environment.

Further configuration

1. Reboot to access the GNOME desktop environment.

2. Install the IBUs Wubi Input method.

3. Install and configure Virtualbox 4.2.0, and install the Windows 7 operating system in Virtualbox.

4. Install NTFS-related packages so that you can read and write to NTFS-formatted removable hard disks and USB drives:

$ sudo pacman-s ntfs-3g ntfsprogs

5. Install the Telepathy group package to enable the Empathy integrated Messaging Engine (otherwise you cannot add Google talk and other accounts in Empathy):

$ sudo pacman-s telepathy

System Information:

This is a 2007 factory Lenovo S4700 computer. Hardware configuration is not high, Intel Pentium D CPU 3.20GHz, 2 GB of memory, ordinary GB SATA hard drive. Arch Linux has a good performance, from pressing the power button to getting into the desktop, about a minute or so. The shutdown is done in about five seconds.

Just after the installation is complete, this machine is equipped with dual monitors, the main display on the left, Lenovo Group Limited ", x 1024. On the right is the AOC Intl ", 1024x768 x 768. The right-hand screen shows the Windows 7 operating system running in Virtualbox.
