Banshee music player in Linux Mint

LinuxMint has the Banshee music player installed by default. The audio decoding library that matches it is also installed. You can directly play music through it without installing any dongben.

Start Banshee in the menu. Start path: menu-> audio and video-> Banshee. Shows the startup interface. You can click the play button to play the music.

Banshee has the following features: Play, pause, play first, next, and adjust the volume. In addition, it also supports adjusting the balancer and built-in popular, rock, and other balancers. You can also define your own balancer.

Mint has installed an audio decoder for Banshee, so it can play audio files in multiple formats, such as our common MP3 formats and audio files in WMA and AAC formats.

Banshee can not only play local music files, but also listen to music broadcasts and even connect to the network to play online music files. However, the network it connects to is a foreign website, which does not take domestic users into account.

Banshee has other functions that are not available in the player. One function is to burn music files into the CD, and the other function is to rate music.

I have introduced Banshee music player in my previous article. This article is mainly to supplement and expand the previous content based on my usage experience during this time period. (Click this link in the previous article)

Recently, when listening to a song, I found that the playing sequence of the song was a little messy, so I wanted to create a playlist based on my preferences. The following describes how to create a playlist, Add songs to the playlist, configure shortcuts, and display music information on the taskbar.

Create a playlist: Select media> Create a playlist in the menu bar, and enter the playlist name, for example, pop music, in this case, a playlist named "pop music" is added to the playlist on the left. Now a new playlist is created. Click the playlist, Which is empty because we have not added music to it.

Add music to the playlist: first, import the music file on the hard disk to the Banshee player. Choose media> Import media from the menu bar, select the file type from the imported drop-down list, and click Select File> find the location where the music file is stored on the hard disk, select a file and then select the import button. Now you can see the imported file in the recently added list. Right-click the file name and choose "add to playlist"> "select the newly created pop music playlist. At this time, the Number 1 is displayed in the blank area on the right of the playlist, indicating that a music file is added to the playlist. Move the mouse over the playlist and click playlist. the playlist is displayed. The music file we just added is displayed in the right window. Note that you cannot select a playlist and then add music files to the playlist. This will not add music files to the playlist. Banshee also supports smart playback lists, such as "Recent playback" and "recently added". Generally, the music files imported from the hard disk are in the "recently added" smart playback list by default. Our recent concerts are automatically added to the smart playlist of "Recent playbacks.

Configuration shortcut key: It is very convenient to control Banshee through the keyboard shortcut key when playing music, such as the previous and next functions commonly used. Unfortunately, Banshee's shortcut keys are for the player itself. That is to say, only the player can use the shortcut keys defined in the foreground. They do not support global shortcuts. But don't worry. Mint can configure global shortcuts for us to use. Next I will introduce how to configure global shortcuts to operate Banshee.

Choose "start"> "Preferences"> "keyboard"> "keyboard shortcut"> "Sound and media. Select a function in the window in the upper-right corner. Double-click the unallocated button in the window in the lower-right corner to highlight the function. In this case, press a button or a group of buttons on the keyboard, depends on yourself. Then the original "unallocated" disappears and you press the shortcut key just now. The shortcut key set for this function.

If you want to remove the shortcut key (for example, ctrl + B), select the function in the window in the upper right corner. Double-click the shortcut key in the lower right corner to highlight it, press the Escape key on the keyboard, and the original "shortcut key (for example, ctrl + B)" disappears. Instead, the three words "unallocated" are replaced, this returns to the original default status, and the shortcut key is successfully canceled.

Display music information on the taskbar: Sometimes the name of the song cannot be clearly remembered when you listen to the song. If you enable the player to view it again, it may be troublesome to display it.

The following describes how to display the currently playing music file in the taskbar. Right-click the music applet icon applet-> Configure and click the mouse in the box on the left of "show song information on the panel" to use this function, after the configuration is disabled, the system displays the currently playing music files and their singers in the taskbar.

We will introduce Banshee here first. If you have good usage skills in the future, we will share them with you.
