2.1 establish a wireless LAN in the home (connect to WIFI through a wireless router)

Advantages: good scalability and flexibility, and a wide range of wireless networks. As long as you find wireless signals at home or near home, you can connect to the Internet anytime, anywhere, compared with GPRS, the speed is much faster and no additional traffic fee is required (of course, the home broadband fee must be paid ...)

Disadvantages: The cost is slightly higher, and you need to purchase additional wireless routers. In addition, security is a major problem in setting up a local network, especially when using broadband access. The security of wireless networks is poor, and the information transmitted is easy for others.

How to build a local network

The methods and content of using ADSL with a wireless router are summarized as follows. Although different brands of wireless routers make different operation interfaces, the analysis and solution methods are similar.

(If you have any friends who have no gateway to respond to the problem, please pay special attention to steps 1 and 2)

1. Start the vro and log on to the vro Management page. The Administrator mode interface is displayed in the browser.

Generally, the website of the Management page is on the user name and password manual. There are also different brands used

2. for broadband users, set the connection type to PPPoE and enter the bandwidth user name and password.

What is the significance of this step?

Now many broadband users have created a new virtual dial-up connection (some also use third-party dialing software) on their computers. Each time they access the Internet, they need to click the broadband connection before they can connect to the network; the so-called PPPoE is used to perform virtual dialing for machines with Ethernet, the WAN port setting type here is set to PPPoE, which is to transfer the dial-up work originally to the computer to the wireless router for automatic operation, in this case, you only need to enable the wireless router to automatically dial the connection, and you do not need to run the broadband connection on your computer.

Pay attention to the limited bandwidth users: After this option is set, the wireless router starts billing by time. Therefore, if you want to disconnect the network and stop billing, You need to disable the wireless router. For monthly bandwidth users, it doesn't matter.

Note: This step is the prerequisite and key for setting up a home wireless LAN. If you skip this step, the system prompts no gateway response after the connection is established. The reason is that the mobile phone cannot perform broadband virtual dialing.

3. enable wireless routing. Select the Basic settings of the Wireless Parameters in the menu. The detailed settings are as follows. The meanings of these parameters are as follows:

SSID: The Network Name of the wireless network, that is, the name you give your own wireless network, because the wireless router or AP launched by the same manufacturer uses the same SSID, therefore, we recommend that you name your SSID as a personal name. Only a combination of numbers and letters is allowed. Chinese characters are not allowed.

Frequency Band: This option is used to select the frequency range for wireless networks. The range is from 1 to 13.

Mode: This option is used to select the working mode of the router. You can select the 11 M bandwidth of the 802.11b mode and the 54M bandwidth of the 802.11g mode (this mode is compatible with 802.11b). Generally, select the latter.

Enable the wireless function: If you want to use the wireless function of the router, You must select this option so that hosts in the wireless network can access and access the wired network.

Enable SSID broadcast: This function is used to broadcast the ssid number of a vro to a host in a wireless network.

If you do not want your wireless network to be searched by someone else using the SSID name, you 'd better "Disable SSID broadcast. Your Wireless Network can still be used, but it will not appear in the list of available networks found by others. In this case, the wireless connection management tool of windows xp cannot scan the wireless network. You need to configure or use third-party software to scan the network.

4. Enable Security Settings and select WEP Security type to set a password for the wireless LAN. The vro uses the 802.11 basic WEP Security mode.

5. Filter MAC addresses. The MAC address filtering function allows or denies computers in wireless networks from accessing the WAN through MAC addresses, effectively controlling the Internet access permissions of users in wireless networks. The filter function prevents computers with certain MAC addresses from accessing the wireless network or allow computers with these MAC addresses to access the wireless network without authorization.

TIPS: What is a MAC address? Media

Access Control (Media Access Control), also known as a physical address, identifies a LAN node. During Physical transmission at the bottom of the network architecture, it identifies a host through a physical address, the MAC address is equivalent to the ID card number of the network card, and its encoding is globally unique.

You can enter * #62209526 # in the standby interface to query the MAC address.

6. Enable the DHCP server

The DHCP server can automatically assign IP addresses to computers in the LAN. the start and end addresses of the address pool can be selected at will, but the range must be between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.254.

If you want to enable static IP addresses, the setting method is similar.

After completing the preceding steps, remember to save and restart the vro for the change to take effect.

For more details, refer to the vro manual. I just listed the key points for setting up a wireless route.

Next, go to the menu-tools-WLAN. In the WIFI connection wizard, all wireless networks in the current area are automatically searched. Select the SSID corresponding to the wireless router you set in the available list and click Connect, you can visit the Wireless World!

Note: If the wireless route uses DHCP to automatically allocate IP addresses, the Wi-Fi configuration on the mobile phone can be connected by default. If the static IP address is used, you must specify a fixed IP address on your mobile phone to connect to IOT platform. Otherwise, a message indicating no gateway response is displayed. For details about how to specify an IP address on your mobile phone, see 2.2.

2.2 use a laptop wireless network card to share the Internet

Advantage: I believe many machine friends have their own books and N78 (even one of them) at the same time. Using this method, you can share the Internet with a wireless network card without having to purchase additional wireless routes, it is very convenient for laptop users, and the next time after a successful configuration, you can use the image-based hoist configuration, which is relatively simple and fast. when I'm so late, I can lie in bed and use my cell phone to surf the Internet and watch Youku and other video websites!

Principle: The wired network adapter connects to the Internet through a Modem or router and shares the network with the wireless network adapter. the wireless network adapter connects to the WIFI mobile phone through point-to-point mode and shares the external network with the mobile phone!

If an additional wireless network card is configured for the desktop, you can use this method to achieve WIFI Internet sharing.

Specific steps: (The highlighted red characters are the key points and error-prone areas. Please pay special attention to them)

First, enable the local connection-properties-advanced, which will allow other network users to connect to the computer through the Internet connection, check and return according to OK

Note: If you want to use broadband and use a virtual dial-up connection on your computer to access the Internet, you need to set it in "Broadband connection-properties-advanced". You do not need to set it for local connections. Please remember.

Next, choose wireless network connection-properties-General-Internet Protocol. In the pop-up Internet Protocol Properties window, select and use the following IP address, and set the IP address to 192.168.0.1, set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. If other input boxes are empty, press OK to return. In the wireless network connection-Properties window, select the second tag for wireless network configuration, and click Add, in the pop-up Wireless Network Properties window, enter the desired ID in the Network Name (SSID) box, for example, enter saueustc here, select Open Network verification, and select Disabled data encryption, if other items are returned by default, click OK to proceed to the next step.

Note: If you want to add a key to your wireless network, select WEP and remove the check box before the key is automatically provided to me, enter the key in the network key and confirm network key boxes.

What if the wireless network configuration tab is not found? The reason is that you have enabled third-party wireless network configuration software on your computer (such as Intel Xeon wireless ). The solution is to return the wireless network management right to Windows in the third-party software settings, or use the following simpler method: on my computer ------ right-click -- manage ----- Open Computer Management, find the service and application, click the service, find the Wireless Zero Configuration in the box that appears on the right, double-click it, set the Startup Type to automatic, and confirm the application. Then go and check out the wireless network configuration tab.

In the wireless network connection-Properties window, connect the network when it is in the region. In the wireless network connection-properties-Wireless Network Configuration tab, click advanced in the lower right corner, in the advanced window that appears, select computer only (specific) and close. This step is to establish a connection between the N78 and the wireless network card.

Go back to the wireless network connection-properties-Wireless Network Configuration window and you will find that the name of the wireless network just set is added to the preferred network (note: if the preferred network box is blank, repeat the above steps until the set wireless network name appears)

Click OK to exit. So far, the settings on the computer have been completed. The settings on the mobile phone are as follows:

Step 1: configure the mobile phone number

Choose "menu"> "Tools"> "Settings"> "connection"> "bearer mode", and select "add access point,

Next, return to the network bearer method, select the internet, and select the access point you just created in the displayed list. For example, click new in my example, and press the navigation key to edit it to change the IP address settings.

Press the left function key to go to option-advanced settings, select IPV4 settings, here we need to manually assign an IP address,

1. Set the mobile phone IP address to 192.168.0.2

(Note: The IP address can be changed at will, as long as it is in the same network segment as the gateway. The IP address range is 192.168.0.2 ~ 192.168.0.254. You can select either of them. For example, I chose 192.168.0.2 in this example)

2. Set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 (cannot be changed at will)

3. The default gateway is 192.168.0.1 (cannot be changed at Will). This gateway is actually the IP address you have defined when creating a wireless network connection point on your computer.

4. Set the primary DNS address to 192.168.0.1 (the same as the gateway address). The secondary DNS address remains unchanged and is still 0.0.0.0.

TIPS: DNS is the abbreviation of Domain Name System. On the Internet, Domain names and IP addresses correspond One to One. Domain Names (such as bbs. **. com) is easy for people to remember, but machine-to-machine communication only recognizes IP addresses (such as bbs. **. the IP address corresponding to com is 210.83.85.233). The conversion between the domain name and the IP address is called domain name resolution. Because domain name resolution needs to be completed by a dedicated domain name resolution server, therefore, DNS is the server for domain name resolution. The DNS and gateway settings are the same here, so the DNS request can be sent to the locally connected DNS server through the gateway for resolution.

Next, go to the mobile phone menu-tools-WLAN, and select the new wireless network connection point on the computer. For example, in my example, saueustc, select start to browse the network.

Note: remember to turn off the firewall on your computer. Otherwise, a message indicating no gateway is returned.

2.3 connect to WIFI in public places

1. hotspot Distribution

At present, there are few WIFI hotspots in China, especially in large and medium-sized cities, but there are not many available hotspots, and there are a lot of encrypted networks.

Here is a list of WIFI hotspots distributed across China

Hot spots are distributed mainly in various hotels, exhibition centers, gymnasiums, airports, mobile business halls, as well as Starbucks, KFC, McDonald's and other public places.

2. How to connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot

Go to the menu-tools-WLAN to search for local hotspots and connect to the server by default using WIFI (no custom IP addresses are required ).

3. wireless signals from residential areas and college student apartments

Wi-Fi search in residential communities or college student apartments often finds many wireless networks, but most of them are encrypted by WEP. The prerequisite for access is to obtain the key.

TIPS:

Since many people set WLAN Network keys to save time, set the key to "12345" or "admin". If you do not know the key, try to enter these frequently used keys in the encrypted wireless network, chances of being lucky are not small.

WIFI FAQs

3.1 I found a Wi-Fi hotspot and the connection was successful. But when I browsed the network, I was prompted that there was no gateway to respond. Why?

The reasons for no gateway response have been mentioned above. Here, we will summarize the reasons and discuss them in four cases:

The first case is that some small wireless local area network wireless routes or APS use static IP Address Allocation, that is, in the network where the static IP address is used, each computer or other device must have a fixed IP address for access.

This IP address is specified by a wireless route, and the gateway on the mobile phone must be set to the router address, and the DNS address must be set to the DNS address of the route, so that the Internet can be accessed normally, otherwise, no gateway response is returned.

The second case is that many wireless signals are often found in residential areas, college student apartments, and other places, but the connection prompts no gateway response, this is because the wireless router is configured with MAC address filtering (for what is MAC address and how to set MAC address filtering, see Step 2 on the second floor of this post and click) to prevent unknown users from accessing the network. At this time, no matter whether you enter the correct password, or set the correct gateway, or manually assign an IP address, the network cannot be connected. The solution is to allow the wireless route administrator to include the MAC address in the allowed connection whitelist.

The third case is that, if you connect to the Internet through a wireless router, no gateway will respond because the mobile phone cannot make a broadband connection dial.

The solution is to set the WAN port connection type to PPPoE in the wireless router, enter the broadband account and password, and the router automatically performs a broadband virtual dial-up connection, therefore, you do not need to install PPPoE dial-up software on your computer, or create other broadband connections. You only need to keep the local connection. The dial-up is automatically completed by the router. In this way, you can access the Internet after connecting to the wireless route.

In the fourth case, if you are using a wireless network card to share the internet, you must turn off the firewall on your computer after connecting to the network through WIFI. Otherwise, a message indicating no gateway is returned.
