Because the BBB board system is Debian 7.4, it is said that the Debian system can achieve seamless connection between many BBB boards and better learn and control the BBB board, so we decided to download the Debian 7.5 system installation, use the Virtual Machine installation method.

I. System Installation

1. I downloaded the debian7.5 32-bit system with three DVD disks and a lot of installation materials on the Internet. I will not detail the installation process here. However, a problem that many people may encounter is the problem of inserting a CD during installation. The Virtual Machine is vmware workstation 10.

I also encountered this problem during the first installation, And I interrupted it and re-checked it online. At last, I thought of two more optical drives in the virtual machine settings. There are three optical drives in total, one ISO image file for each optical drive, and the first optical drive image is set to the 0 Optical Drive, after the problem is set in order, the problem is solved.

When the installation is over, some application files cannot be found. Because I have a network, you can select to continue the installation from the network as prompted, it will be downloaded and installed by itself. If there is no network, skip as prompted, because it is only an application, enter the desktop and then install.

Because there are many installation tutorials on the internet, no guidance is provided here. This article focuses on the remote control of the BBB board.

 

Ii. Remote Control

In the first lesson, we introduced how to remotely control the BBB board in windows. This section mainly describes the BBB board control in the Debian 7.5 system. The remote control method is the same. It can also be divided into character terminal mode and remote desktop mode.

Here we will only talk about the method of connecting the BBB board with a USB cable, and the method of using the network cable and power cord is skipped.

The USB cable is connected to the BBB board, which is not driven in the Debian 7.5 system. The device symbol is displayed in the lower right corner. If the BBB board is connected before the system is started, the BBB device is connected by default. If the device is connected only after the desktop of debian7.5, you may need to manually connect to the device.

 

1. Install putty Software

Go to application-attachment-Super Terminal command mode and enter the command: aptitudeinstall Putty to run the installation process:

Here is a problem I encountered. I didn't use this command to install it online. I downloaded putty Linux in advance, but I couldn't find the executable source file after decompression, I don't know why. Finally, I gave up the downloaded version and directly installed it through aptitude.

 

After the installation is successful, an application: putty SSH client will appear on "Application-Internet ".

 

 

 

 

2. the putty software connects to the BBB board and the character mode of the login Terminal

Open the putty SSH client software:

On the Host Name (host name), enter the IP address of the BBB Board: 192.168.7.2;

The following window is displayed as a result of the first login:

 

 

 

After entering the logon status, enter root to log on to the character Terminal Mode of the BBB Board:

Note:If the logon fails, the system prompts a timeout. Check whether the BBB device in the lower right corner of the desktop is connected. You need to manually connect the device, move the mouse to the lower right corner, and move it closer to the icon of the sound card device, the "Linux flundation beagleboneblack" prompt appears. Right-click the menu and select "Connect". The small icon will change to the shape of the USB flash drive, and the content of the USB flash drive will pop up on the desktop, the connection is successful. Otherwise, remote logon fails.

 

 

The string "[email protected]: ~ # ", Terminal Mode Remote Control is successful!

3. log on to the Remote Desktop of the BBB Board through the VNC software

The method for logging on to the BBB board Remote Desktop in the Debian 7.5 system is relatively simple. If you do not need to install any other software, you can directly use the system's built-in "Application-Internet-Remote Desktop viewer"

Click "Connect" and enter the IP address of the BBB board in the host.

Before using Remote Desktop Connection, you still have to execute the "vncserver" command in putty login mode to open the server. Because I have run vncserver and set a password in windows before the BBB board, therefore, there is no prompt in the Debian 7.5 system, and the running result is directly:

 

Next, enter the IP address in the remote desktop window and click Connect. In the displayed demonstration window, enter the password.

 

 

 

Succeeded! Since I used to release a few software on the desktop when logging on to the Windows system, it is not empty this time from the remote view of the Debian system!
