Berkeley DB installation in Linux ____linux

Berkeley DB is an open source embedded database management system (acquired by Oracle) developed by US Sleepycat Software, which provides scalable, high-performance, transaction-protected data management services for applications.

Berkeley DB provides a useful API interface for many programming languages, including C, C + +, Java, Perl, Tcl, Python, and PHP. All database-related operations are done uniformly by the Berkeley DB function library.

This article first describes how to install the Berkeley DB Database (similar to other systems) under CentOS.

1. Install Berkeley DB

# CD/USR/LOCAL/SRC

# wget http://download.oracle.com/berkeley-db/db-4.6.18.tar.gz

# TAR-ZXVF db-4.6.18.tar.gz# CD db-4.6.18

# CD Build_unix

Berkeley db is installed by default in the/usr/local/berkeleydb.4.6 directory, where 4.6 is the version number, you can also specify the –prefix parameter to set up the installation directory.

# .. /dist/configure--prefix=/usr/local/berkeleydb--enable-cxx

Where –enable-cxx is compiling the C + + library so that you can compile the PHP extension PHP_DB4 of the Berkeley DB database.

# make

# make Install


# echo '/usr/local/berkeleydb/lib/' >>/etc/ld.so.conf

# Ldconfig

The function of these 2 sentences is to inform the System Berkeley DB of the dynamic link library in the/usr/local/berkeleydb/lib/directory.

At this point, the Berkeley DB database has been installed.
