Marvell Company has announced the world's first 90 nano-CMOS chip Marvell 88w8688, which is applied to mobile phones, battery-powered media players, portable game consoles, smart phones, personal digital assistants and ultra-low-cost computer platform Wireless LAN + Bluetooth technology single chip solution.

Marvell 88w8688 is based on the company's proven, powerful embedded 2-tier (MAC) and 3-tier software that runs on countless customer platforms. Combining Bluetooth 2.0EDR (a hardware and software combination that can be upgraded to Bluetooth 2.1 performance) with a wireless LAN sub system can optimize synchronous dual-radio operation and collaboration.

The Marvell 88w8688 platform enables companies to provide ecosystem solutions through seamless connectivity between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, ultimately enhancing the customer experience. Marvell 88w8688 is the first Bluetooth 2.0EDR baseband/RF and Marvell, a complete collection of 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN technologies for the next generation of customer electronic devices. Marvell 88w8688 realizes the integration of the WLAN with the Bluetooth subsystem, which can shrink up to 50% of the space compared to their individual applications. This integrated multi-protocol security engine includes hardware acceleration for extensible end-to-end security requirements for UMA, IMS, and other network access methods. After Marvell the groundbreaking embedded client architecture, Marvell 88w8688 combines full 3-layer network support (TCP/IP+UDP) with the ability to execute requests locally and uninstall the wireless LAN from the primary CPU.

In addition, Marvell 88w8688 combines audio and video coding, and can be applied to many types of media formats and platforms. The Marvell advanced fourth generation coexistence algorithm ensures 10 percent audio and stereo Bluetooth features with full wireless LAN operation. The Marvell Ultra low power Bluetooth architecture affects the four generation 2.4GHz Wireless LAN High-performance Radio, and provides a great improvement for Bluetooth range and connection quality. Marvell 88w8688 supports all Bluetooth profiles with an industrial standard that is connected to the HCI interface. The device executes the Bluetooth profile locally and unloads from the primary CPU. The Marvell 8w8688 can be connected to the main processor via a unified main interface or a stand-alone interface between the wireless LAN and the Bluetooth connection.

Marvell 88w8688 is currently providing samples to major OEM partners and is supplying development kits with complete hardware reference design, development motherboard, and package suite software.
