Long time no blog, a lot of recent reading, are comforting the mind, but seldom learn technology, ashamed

As we all know, in order to carry out batch network engraving, we need to meet several conditions: System image + network engraving software + DHCP + TFTP + dos + Ghost.

Although a lot of good software is now bringing together all 5 of the back. But in some cases it's worth taking DHCP apart. For example, there is a DHCP server in the network environment, but I am not convenient to go back to the office, want to local remote for some or some of the host network engraved system, this time if the use of integrated DHCP software presumably will cause the IP distribution confusion, not good, will also delay the normal office of everyone.

What is a PXE server, I quote someone else's passage:

Simply put, thePXE server is the DHCP server +TFTP server . The network boot process is probably this (may not be rigorous): The client sends a broadcast packet to obtain the IP address dynamically on the network, the DHCP server after receiving the broadcast packet, sent to the client to assign the IP address of the response packet, the client receives the response package set its own IP address, Then obtain the IP address of the boot server from the DHCP server (the DHCP server 066 option, which is the IP address of the TFTP server) and the startup file name (DHCP server 067 option, The startup file name here is the GRLDR of pxelinux.0 or PXE-enabled Grub4dos, and of course it can be Startrom.n12 or PXE boot menu file created with 3com Image Edit, in short, It should be a fixed-format executable file that is specified by the PXE boot specification, and then the client obtains the boot file and executes it to the Contact startup server (TFTP server), which basically completes the PXE boot process.

Under the UNIX or Linux system, the DHCP server and the TFTP server are generally set separately, the two servers can even be on two different machines, in fact, the same settings under Windows, but under Windows, we can use the Hanewin DHCP server Software or TFTPD32 a software is done (I personally recommend the use of Hanewin DHCP server software, but the TFTPD32 set up a little more simple, is the efficiency is somewhat low), the detailed setup method please yourself, as long as you know, when setting up the PXE server, To set up DHCP and TFTP two servers, where the DHCP server will set the boot server name (066 option) and the startup file name (067 option).

Well, OK, I know Clint. When you get an address through DHCP, you get the address of the TFTP server and the name of the file that TFTP will transfer through DHCP. I just set the TFTP location in DHCP and the boot file name, copy that boot file to the TFTP server root directory.

With Cisco Tftpserver, Maxdos. For example, PXE (boot boot file) and Maxdos7.sys:

First, in the DHCP server option, populate the Maxdos with the IP address of the TFTP, option 067 "Startup file name " in option 066 "boot server hostname" . PXE "

Next, fill in the path you want in the "option--tftp Server Root" in Cisco Tftpserver. For example, create a D:\PXE\Cisco TFTP server\img path, place maxdos.pxe and Maxdos7.sys under this path

When the network engraved, the server in the Cisco Tftpserver need to be in the open state, the client select the network boot, when the successful acquisition of the IP address, the network engraved with the use of Ghost and other related software will be automatically transmitted over. You can continue to the steps of the network engraved.

Other supplements

1, Tftpd32 is said to be used only under XP and Win2000, simple configuration but low efficiency

2, integrated with the DHCP and TFTP, Ghost and other environment to use the network engraved software has sincere Dragon Network engraved, PXE network software , etc.

3, when the network engraved try not to cross the switch, if the same gigabit switch online engraved, even dozens of machine efficiency will be surprisingly fast
