Call operating system commands

Perl is a scripting language. Sometimes we need to call operating system commands. We can use the system function to execute system commands. If we want to capture the output results of system commands, we can use backticks (''). The following is a simple example.

#! /Usr/bin/perl # Call the date Command System "date"; # capture the date output my $ now = 'date'; print "the time is $ now ";
