The Cisco 7604 router is one of the smallest redundant routers that provide nx10GE Ethernet performance and a wide range of services. As a member of the Cisco 7600 series, it provides powerful and high-performance IP/MPLS functions for telecom operator edge, enterprise MAN and WAN applications. Additionally, the four-socket Cisco 7604 chassis delivers superior performance in a compact 5-rack unit (RU) shape. It can be configured in two ways-single engine and three line cards, or dual engine and two line cards. The latter configuration helps improve reliability and redundancy. Cisco 7604 also supports redundant AC or DC power supplies to improve reliability.

Cisco 7604 for Enterprise Wide Area aggregation or telecommunications carrier environments provides industry-leading interface combinations (from DS-0 to OC-48/STM-16, fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, 10-Gigabit Ethernet) and service modules, for example, IPSec, firewall, ssl vpn, Intrusion Detection System (IDS), DoS prevention.
