Compared with traditional LAN technology , vlan technology is more flexible, it has the following advantages: The management overhead of moving, adding, and modifying network devices is reduced; You can control the broadcast activity , which can improve the security of the network.

in a computer network, a two-tier network can be divided into different broadcast domains, and a broadcast domain corresponds to a specific user group. VLANs can enhance the security of local area networks, and groups of users with sensitive data can be isolated from the rest of the network, thereby reducing the likelihood of disclosing confidential information. Messages in different VLANs are isolated from each other during transmission, and different broadcast domains want to communicate between them and need to pass through one or more routers. VLANs can divide a second layer of planar networks into multiple logical workgroups (broadcast domains) to reduce unnecessary traffic on the network and improve performance.

Experimental topological diagram

1. Configuration PC The basic configuration of the switch with the end address.

2. in the initial configuration, the switch will have a default VLAN1 , all interfaces are in VLAN1 Medium (available Show VLAN commands to view VLAN information).

3. when all of the interfaces are in the same VLAN , we can test the PC Can be reached by the output VLAN the network can communicate with each other).

4. Create VLAN .

5. Divide VLAN (Divide the interface into the desired VLAN , you need to change the interface mode to Access mode).

6. Test PC can communicate with each other.

Note: At this point you can see that when each interface is in a different VLAN , no communication can be communicated between the same network segment.
