Cisco, as one of the largest producers of wireless routing, is highly competitive in the market, as is Cisco Wireless AP. This article mainly analyzes Cisco Wireless AP configuration and some basic knowledge. For average users, it is very helpful.
Cisco Wireless AP knowledge point, an important consideration
AP coverage:
The maximum indoor coverage distance is 35 ~ 100 meters
The maximum outdoor distance is 100 ~ 400 meters
AP coverage:
Experience of 2.4G electromagnetic waves on Penetration Loss of various building materials is as follows:
A. Cement wall (15 ~ 25 cm): attenuation: 10 ~ 12dB
B. Wood wall (5 ~ 10 cm): attenuation 5 ~ 6 dB
C. glass windows (3 ~ 5 cm): attenuation 5 ~ 7dB
The effects of various building materials on wireless signals are as follows:
When the AP is separated from the terminal by a cement wall, the distance between the AP and the terminal is less than 5 Valid.
When an AP is separated from a wooden wall in the terminal, the AP's transmission distance is less than 15 meters.
When the AP and the terminal are separated by a glass wall, the AP transmission distance is less than 15 meters.
Confirm the AP quantity:
For general open spaces with an area of less than 150 m² square meters, such as public lounge areas, small bars, coffee shops, meeting rooms, and Western restaurants, the estimated number of users is no more than 30, one AP can be placed in each location to meet the needs. When the space is large, multiple APS will be installed to meet the needs for coverage. When the capacity needs are large, that is, when the number of users in the AP coverage area is too large, multiple APS must be placed in the same space to increase the capacity.
Select the AP installation location:
Install an AP in a single room and try to place the AP in the center of the hall. It is best to place the AP in the ceiling of the hall;
If two APs are installed, they can be placed on two diagonal corners of the hall.
AP frequency planning:
Theoretically, the isolation between adjacent frequency points must be greater than or equal to 35 dB. Based on experience, when the adjacent AP sets the same frequency point, the interval must be over 25 meters. When the adjacent AP sets the adjacent frequency point, the AP must be at an interval of more than 16 meters. When the AP is set to an interval of more than 12 meters. To maintain a good WLAN, we need to consider the number of users in the coverage range. The number of online terminal users of a single AP should not exceed 30.
AP roaming:
The AP sends a detection signal every Ms. the user can determine the network connection quality and then decide which AP to connect. When the terminal is roaming between multiple APs, the new service AP notifies the original service AP through a wired connection and creates a new connection. The roaming protocol of Wireless AP is not included in 802.11, while the IAPPInter access point protocol is likely to become a standard roaming protocol.
AP Power Control:
By adjusting the AP output power, you can control the number of users in the coverage range to ensure the network quality. The power of AP products is unified at factory time. When you need to change the power, you can download the corresponding software to adjust the output power. In the initial stage of WLAN construction, the software mainly meets the requirements for coverage and seldom controls the AP power.
