Cloud computing impacts anti-virus software business models without affecting personal privacy

The topic of "cloud computing" has been in the industry for almost a year. Many readers still don't understand what this new architecture means? Recently, several mainstream anti-virus vendors, such as trends and rising stars, have announced the establishment of a "cloud computing architecture". The anti-virus industry is also known as the transition to the "Multi-cloud" era. So after the "Multi-cloud" era, will we completely subvert the previous manual anti-virus practices?

New Architecture impacts on existing business models

First, we need to clarify the concept of cloud computing. This new concept, originally proposed by companies such as Google and IBM, is Internet-centric and provides secure, fast, and convenient data storage and network computing services. A smooth network will become the whole, and users do not even need a hard disk. They only need to create their own accounts, and they can rely on the network to perform all the operations on the computer.

In an image, all servers connected to the Internet and computers form a large "Cloud". Each user can use terminal devices to become part of the "Cloud, work together to extract your needs from the "Cloud" data center.

Specifically in the anti-virus industry, the method that has been used is: after detecting a virus, the engineer of the anti-virus company parses the virus sample and then uploads the virus code for the sample to the virus database, you can regularly or manually update the virus database to obtain the upgrade protection of anti-virus software.

However, "In this traditional anti-virus method, virus codes are difficult to update. Every day, users upgrade anti-virus software, which also consumes memory and bandwidth. Many people dislike this. If the virus code is put on the server's 'cloud', the server cluster can automatically scan and kill the virus code that is about to enter the user terminal. This makes the user terminal easy without upgrading every day, you do not need to use memory or bandwidth because of anti-virus software." Zhang weiqin, president of Trend Micro Greater China, explained the changes brought by cloud computing to the anti-virus industry.

"Cloud" self-blocking viruses

According to Zhang weiqin, after introducing the cloud computing architecture, the anti-virus industry has truly changed from anti-virus to anti-virus. "You do not have to wait until the user is poisoned to solve the problem. More importantly, you must prevent the problem in advance ." It is reported that trend, pandatv, rising, Symantec, and other anti-virus manufacturers are currently deploying their own cloud computer architecture to form a "Cloud" server cluster ranging from hundreds to tens of thousands. In the future, as long as a user installs an anti-virus software connected to the "Cloud", when accessing the internet, the server will determine which web pages are malicious based on the already stored massive virus database, or even a trojan program, and automatically cleared for you.

So once a new virus occurs, and the database on the cloud on the server does not have the virus code, how can we determine and handle it? Anti-virus experts said that the advantages of cloud computing began to take advantage of this time-no longer rely on engineers from a company to work overtime for analysis, instead, a new web page behavior is evaluated based on dozens of predefined metrics. If a code behavior is abnormal, the channel for feedback is immediately truncated, it is not allowed to enter the user terminal and is directly detected and killed on the road.

If cloud computing is introduced to all anti-virus companies in the future, "Cloud" will do all background work for users. As long as you have installed anti-virus software, even if an external virus is implanted on the terminal, the system automatically uploads the virus to the server after the network is connected, and then the server takes advantage of the speed advantage of massive computing, detection and removal can be completed in a few seconds. If anti-virus software does not prompt you, you may not know anything.

Cloud computing security does not affect personal privacy

Since cloud computing needs to collect a large amount of information to establish a database, the outside world has been concerned about whether this will involve user privacy leakage. In this regard, Zhang weiqin said that the antivirus company will clearly inform the customer of the information that will be automatically uploaded. "generally, the uploaded source code is a virus, and the IP address can be used at most. Once information such as the IP address is leaked, the system will automatically check and kill to prevent user information leakage."
