The slow speed of wireless networks and unstable signals are widely recognized as drawbacks. In fact, the actual situation may not be a problem with the network itself. Have you checked whether the parameter settings of your hardware device are correct? Follow this article to see the correct process of configuring a wireless router. I believe that after reading this article, you must be able to configure a wireless router.
"I use a wireless router to share the Internet. The speed is fast and slow !"
"My laptop is only 10 meters away from the wireless router, but my laptop cannot find stable wireless signals !"
"I use a wireless router to share the Internet, frequent disconnection and frequent disconnection !"
The above is a fault in the daily use of some wireless router users. What is the cause of these faults? Because of these unreasonable settings, the wireless router is in an unstable state. Below, the author takes TP-LINKWR641G as an example, a comprehensive introduction to the wireless router settings.
How to configure a Wireless Router
Before configuring a wireless router, you must connect the PC to the wireless router with a network cable. the other end of the network cable must be connected to the LAN port of the wireless router. After the physical connection is installed, you must have two parameters to configure the wireless router. One is the user name and password of the wireless router, and the other is the management IP address of the wireless router. The default Management IP address of the TP-LINKWR641G wireless router is 192.168.1.1, and the user name and password are admin.
To configure a wireless router, the IP address of the PC must be in the same CIDR block as the management IP address of the wireless router. To this end, I changed the IP address of my laptop Nic to 192.168.1.20.. the subnet mask can be used by default, and the gateway does not need to be set. Currently, most wireless routers only support Web page configuration, rather than Telnet and other configuration modes.
Enter the management IP address of the wireless router in the browser, and a login interface will pop up on the desktop. after entering the user name and password, we will enter the configuration interface of the wireless router.
After entering the wireless router configuration interface, the system will automatically pop up a "setting wizard ". In the setup wizard, only WAN port settings are provided. We recommend that you ignore the "setting wizard" and directly go to the "Network parameter settings" option.
Network parameter settings
In the network parameter settings of the wireless router, you must set the parameters of the LAN port and WAN port. In practical applications, many users only set the WAN port, and the LAN port settings keep the default status of the wireless router.
In order to keep the wireless router in an efficient and stable working state, in addition to the necessary settings for the wireless router, the necessary security measures should also be taken. The purpose of purchasing a wireless router is to make it easier for you. If a wireless router is a public network access point, other users can share it. In this case, will your network speed be stable? To ensure the security of the wireless router, you must clear the default LAN Settings of the wireless router.
The TP-LINKWR641G wireless router, the default LAN port address is 192.168.1.1, in order to prevent others' intrusion, I change the LAN address to 192.168.1.254, subnet mask is not changed. After setting the LAN port address, click "save". A restart dialog box is displayed.
LAN port network parameter settings
Configure the WAN port after configuring the LAN port information. Before configuring the WAN port, you must first determine the access type of your bandwidth, fixed IP address, dynamic IP address, PPPoE virtual dialing, PPTP, L2TP, 802.1X + Dynamic IP address, or 802.1X + static IP. I use a fixed IP address for ADSL Broadband. Therefore, select static IP for the WAN port connection type and enter the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS server address.
Note:
Information such as IP addresses, subnet masks, gateways, and DNS servers are provided by broadband carriers. In addition, the ADSL of a fixed IP address also belongs to the static IP connection mode.
After configuring the LAN port and WAN port, we need to configure the Wireless Parameters below. When configuring a wireless router, there is no step strictly. I suggest you configure it in the order on the wireless router configuration page.
