Convert Java Studio Creator 2 project to NetBeans IDE 6.0 project

Before you use this tutorial, you will need to install the NetBeans IDE 6.0 Web feature module (Web & Java EE or Full install) on your system, which can be downloaded in the NetBeans IDE 6.0 download page. Familiarize yourself with the basic parts of the IDE. (Note, for example, that some windows are different in NetBeans and in the Java Studio Creator.) All of the steps in this tutorial are based on a Java Studio Creator project that uses JSF 1.1 and EE 1.4.

Warning

When you convert a project, you need to follow the following guidelines.

When you open a project with NetBeans IDE 6.0, copy your project folder ahead of time. When you open a Sun Java Studio Creator 2 UpDate 1 Project, you will not be able to reopen the project with an earlier IDE. Sharing a project directory between Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 and NetBeans IDE 6.0 is not supported.

There is no way to convert a project in the Sun Java studiio Creator 2.0 directly to the NetBeans IDE 6.0 project. You need to first convert your project to Sun Java Studio Creator 2.1 as described in the transformation of your Java Studio Creator 2 configuration and data into a new revision of the IDE.

Install the required Web & Java EE modules or download the full version of NetBeans IDE 6.0.

NetBeans IDE 6.0 does not currently support portlets. If your project contains portlets, do not convert it to NetBeans IDE 6.0 project.

By opening existing projects several times and building new ones, you will be rewarded slowly.

These libraries are not open source, so they are distributed as NetBeans Plug-ins. When installing Plug-ins, follow these guidelines:

In the main tool bar, click Tools > Plugins. The plug-in management tool will open.

In the list of available plug-ins, select the check box for the Visual Web JSF backwards compatibility Kit, and then click Install.
