Install Windows 10 with a new USB or DVD

Follow these instructions to perform a clean installation of Windows 10. If you want to upgrade to Windows 10 for free, follow the instructions in the upgrade to Windows section using Tools . If you have not upgraded to Windows 10 and have performed a fresh installation, you will need to enter a qualified product key for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 or purchase a license to activate Windows 10. Warning: If you format the drive partition during installation, any data on that partition will be purged. Make sure that you back up all the data that you want to keep before you start the operation.

2. Please run the media creation tool.
4. Select Create installation media for another computer.
6. Select the language, version, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) that applies to Windows 10.
8. Follow these steps to create the installation media, and then select Finish when youare finished.
10. When you're ready to perform a clean installation, turn on your computer, insert the DVD or USB drive that you created, and then turn off your computer.

11. Restart your computer, and then press any key to boot from the DVD or USB drive.

    If you restart your computer and start a current version of Windows, you may need to open the boot menu or change the boot order in your computer's BIOS or UEFI settings so that your computer can boot from the media. To open the boot menu or change the boot order, you usually need to press the key combination (such as F2, F12, Delete, or ESC) immediately after you turn on your computer. For instructions on changing your computer's boot order, check the documentation that came with your computer or go to the manufacturer's website.

    If changing the boot menu or order does not work, try again in the following order: Log on to Windows, shut down, and then start your computer.

13. in "Install Windows" page, enter the language and other preferences, and then select "Next" .
15. Select "Install Windows".

16. in "Enter Product key to activate Windows"page, enter your product key. If you have purchased Windows 10, the product key should be in the purchase confirmation email. It looks like this: Product Key: Xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
    
    Note: If you have successfully activated Windows 10 on this PC, including upgrades made by taking advantage of the free upgrade offer, you do not need to enter your Windows 10 product key. By selecting "Skip"button, you can skip the Product Key page. Your computer will be activated automatically at a later time.

18. in the "license Terms" on the page, if you accept the license terms, please select "I accept the license terms" , then select "Next" .
20. in the "what kind of installation do you want to perform?" " page, select "Custom" .
22. In the Where do you want to install Windows? " page, select the desired partition, select the formatting options you want to perform (if necessary), and then follow the instructions.
24. When you are finished formatting, select Next.
26. Follow the remaining steps of the installation instructions to complete the Windows installation.
