With the free Domain Name Service provided by Domino r8.5 and peanut shells, you can build your own email system. Of course, it is only for learning and communication and cannot be used as a real enterprise-level email system application.
My lab environment:
A. OS: Windows Server 2003 sp2
B. Domino: Release 8.5
C. Peanut Shell Client
D. Network: ADSL
I, go to the official website http://www.oray.cn to register an account, and apply for a free domain name, of course, if you have money to apply for a paid domain name that would be better. If the free Domain Name I applied for is aaa.oicp.net, your domain name is activated by default during the application process. Then install the peanut shell client on your computer. After installation, you can log on to the client. You do not need to make other settings for the peanut shell:
2. Create a name for your Domino server. Assume It is God. Then, refer to the name and the domain name you have applied for. We recommend that you modify the name of your computer as follows (this step is not required): My computer-> properties-> computer name-> change, change the computer name here to "God ":
Click "Others" and change "primary DNS suffix of the computer" to the domain name you applied for "aaa.oicp.net ", in this way, your computer's "complete computer name" is "god.aaa.oicp.net ":
2. Install the Domino server. The installation process is no longer repeated. Select the Server installation path and set the server type to "Domino Enterprise Server". You can continue the next step.
3. Configure the Domino server. For the configuration process, refer to the information on the network. Here we only describe the parameter settings involved in the process:
A. Server Name: enter the name of the server you set up earlier. In this example, the name is "God"
B. Server title: Random
C. Organization Name: Random, assuming "AAA"
D. Domino Domain Name: Enter the Host Name of the domain name you have applied for. This example is "AAA"
E. Last name: Admin is recommended.
F. Host Name: enter your complete computer name, that is, god.aaa.oicp.net.
After this configuration, your Domino server: name God/AAA, standard Internet host name god.aaa.oicp.net, Administrator: admin/AAA, user mail as user@aaa.oicp.net
4. specifying the ing between IP addresses and domain names. Because DNS is not configured, you can directly bind the Server IP address and domain name ing through the hosts file (Path: c: \ windows \ system32 \ drivers \ etc. Add a record in the hosts file: xx. xx (IP address of your local connection) God (name of your Domino server ). Starting your Domino server at this time, you can access your Domino server with http: // God or http://god.aaa.oicp.net. Note that the IIS service is started by default in the 2003 system. The IIS service occupies port 80. In this case, you only need to disable the IIS service in the service management, the HTTP service of Domino can be started normally.
5. send an email to the Internet. As long as you select the SMTP service when installing the server, the SMTP service is loaded by default when the Domino server is started, and your computer is connected to the Internet, no additional settings are required, now you can use your names. users in NSF sent emails to the Internet. At this time, the Internet user cannot reply to you after receiving your email.
6. To allow Internet users to directly reply to you after receiving your email, you only need to map several common ports on the vro.
A. Open your vro. If you do not know the IP address of the vro, Run "route print" in the command prompt to view the IP address of the vroute. The default gateway is followed by the IP address of the vroute:
B. generally, a vro configuration includes a "virtual server" or "port forwarding". In this case, add the ing between your computer and these common ports, generally, you only need to map 80 (HTTP), 110 (POP3), 25 (SMTP), and 21 (FTP). The IP address column must fill in the IP address of your local connection:
C. Restart your route after configuration.
D. Make sure your peanut shells are online!
After this configuration, you can use an Internet mailbox, such as 163 or QQ, to give your names. NSF inside the user to send mail, of course to fill in the Internet mail address, such as admin@aaa.oicp.net, sending and receiving speed is very fast, the following is from the QQ mailbox to send mail test:
OK. As long as your computer is started, the Domino server is started, and the peanut shells are online, your email system can normally send and receive emails from the Intranet and Internet. Of course you can also tell your friends that through the http://aaa.oicp.net address, you can access and use your mail system
