Create an SSIS package template)

An SSIS package can contain information such as the Connection Manager and log Program Control Flow elements, data flow elements, event handlers, variables, and configuration items. When you use a package template to create a new package, you can reuse these items. For example, you may want to reuse the package template in the following items:

• Log provider: You can create a package that contains the Connection Manager and $ log provider. Other packages of this package can be used as templates. When this operation is performed, all event information is recorded in the same SQL Server database.
  Note:It may be easier to analyze log data and record all event information in the same SQL Server database.
• Common SQL task execution: You can create a package that truncates tables or attaches databases.
• Send mail task: You can create a package, which contains an SMTP Connection Manager send mail task and generate an attribute expression in the topic line. This package is used as a template to create packages for other packages and run successfully or generate an error. You will be notified by email.

2. Start SQL server business development studio.
4. ClickFile, PointingNewAnd then clickProject.
6. In the new project window, clickBusiness Intelligence ProjectIntegration Service ProjectType a project named ", and clickOK.

   Note:We recommend that you enter a name that describes the features of the software package.

8. Add the required items from the toolbox to the package. dtsx file.
10. ClickFileAnd then clickSave the selected project.

    Note:You can save an empty package.

12. ClickFileAnd then clickSave the copyFilenameIs. In this caseFilenameIs the file name.

    Note:You can copy the package to a folder instead of usingTheFilenameIsThe position in step 1 of the command.

14. Copy of the saved packageIn the dialog box, clickPackage locationInFile SystemInPackage pathEnter the following path in the dialog box, and then clickOK. PathDriveIs the installation location of the hard disk Microsoft Visual Studio 2005:

    Drive: \ Program Files \ Microsoft Visual Studio 8 \ common7 \ ide \ privateassemblies \ projectitems \ datatransformationproject \ datatransformationitems

    Note:If you do not have Visual Studio 2005 installed and use the default location, goPackage pathEnter the path of the Visual Studio 2005 folder.

Use a package template in another solution or project

1. start SQL server business development studio.
2. click file , point to New , and click project .
3. in the new project window, click business intelligence project integration service project , type a project named this, and click click OK .

   note we recommend that you enter a name that describes the features of the software package.

4. in Solution Explorer, right-click the project name, point to Add , and click Create project .
5. under templates installed in Visual Studio , click the template that you want and type the Template Name, click Add .

   note In the name box, the default name of the template is the name of the template with an incremental counter. For example, if the Template Name is test. dtsx, the default name is test1.dtsx.

   note we recommend that you generate a unique ID attribute value as a package to make log data analysis easier. To generate a unique ID attribute value, click id In the properties pane, and then click Generate new id . generate a new ID is not displayed in the property pane. If verification is performed, the package property is displayed in the property pane. If a project is displayed in the properties pane (for example, in Connection Manager or task properties, Generate new id is unavailable.
