Automatic startup is achieved without manual power buttons.

The Wol wake-up function is mainly used for remote management. For example, if my computer is in the control state of my home computer, there is no way to implement this function. However, the wol wake-up function can send fixed-format UDP wake-up data packets to the computer, so as to enable the computer to start up in the unit control home. In short, the wol wake-up function is mainly used for remote management and remote maintenance.

3. DD-WRT network wake-up Wol function:

Some readers may wonder if the computer Nic supports the wol wake-up function? What are the advantages of DD-WRT's network wake-up? 4. Set the network wake-up Wol function of DD-WRT:

Step 1: Set the computer to enable the remote Wol function. First, we need to enable the wol function of the computer's own network, which is usually set in bios. Most computers are enabled by default. If you find that the wol automatic wake-up function still cannot be implemented on your computer after completing the following steps, you need to start with BIOS. Generally, you can view the wol option in the bios and set it to the Enable option.

TIPS:
Some old computers may not support the wol wake-up function. In this case, there is no other way.

Step 2: Access the DD-WRT management interface, the default address is 192.168.1.1, the reader can access according to the actual situation. Enter the administrator username and password to log on.

Step 3: Go to the DD-WRT management interface and select "Wol network wake up" under the "manage" tab, here we will see the available host that has appeared, these computers are the computer information that once connected to the DD-WRT device and assigned the corresponding IP address, including MAC address, host name and IP address information. By default, the corresponding "enable Wol" information is not selected.

Step 4: Use the ipconfig/all command to query the machine that is connected to the DD-WRT computer to see that all information in the DD-WRT record is correct.

Step 5: for example, the author wants to connect to the computer DD-WRT device to enable Wol network wake-up function, then only need to corresponding information on the right of the "enable Wol" checked.

Step 7: You can also manually add a host, and enter the corresponding MAC address, IP address, and UDP port number through "manual Wol" below to manually wake up a computer.

TIPS:
Because the network wake-up data packet must use UDP data packets, we need to set a port used by UDP data packets during the wake-up operation. We can enter the port at will. For example, I entered 4000.

In actual use, we only need to click the "wake up" button of the corresponding computer in Figure 5 to automatically wake up when the computer is disabled. If we remotely log on to the DD-WRT device from the network, we can further wake up the remote host to achieve remote management.

5. advanced use of Wol wake-up:

Of course, the wol wake-up function also has many extended applications. For example, to prevent the computer from automatically shutting down due to power failure, we can set Automatic send of automatic wake-up data packets.

Step 1: log on to the management interface of the DD-WRT, find common management under the manage tab, and find the network wake up option in the tab, set Wol to "enable ".

Step 2: Then you need to set parameters for the network wake-up function, including the interval between sending the network wake-up UDP packet, which is 1 second to 86400 seconds. We can set the parameters according to the actual situation, the author adds 30 seconds. Next, set the Host Name and MAC address that you want to automatically wake up at intervals. Save the settings and exit.

Step 3: after exiting, the corresponding computer will be automatically started every 30 seconds after it is shut down because it receives the network wake-up packet, thus avoiding problems caused by power failure.
