Background:

The Sante DICOM Editor has appeared many times in the column blog, but most of the time it is used as a DICOM image editing tool. In fact, the DICOM service function of the Sante DICOM Editor is also very powerful, provides common DICOM query, upload, and download services, which can be used as a mini PACS or used to test the performance of other DICOM servers. This blog post focuses on DICOM Service in Sante DICOM Editor.

1. DICOM Service configuration

Under "Options" in the menu bar, select "Network Setup ...", You can configure local information, such as AETitle and Port, for example, DICOM Client section. You can also add other PACS Servers, that is, DICOM Servers section, for example, two common DICOM servers, CONQUEST and DCM4CHEE are added by default.
Note:These two are common DICOM servers. For details, refer to the official documentation.

2. self-starting service of Sante DICOM Editor

You can view the services enabled by the Sante DICOM Editor software in the Network Status subwindow on the software interface. For example, the services enabled by my local machine by default are as follows:

3. PACS query and download service

Choose File-> Search-> Query C-STORE SCP to open the Query interface, as shown in:

Local example:

To better demonstrate the use of DICOM Service in Sante DICOM Editor, here we take the local machine as an example to give a specific example of PACS query (C-FIND), download (C-MOVE or C-GET) Service, details are as follows.
[Note ]:Here we use the test server provided on the dcmtk official website. Ideally, any AET can be accessed, and when you add a PACS node to the Sante DICOM Editor software, you can name the AET of DICOM Server in the public network test. For example, the name is DICOMSERVER, the IP address is 213.165.94.158, and the port number is 104 or 11112.

Then, follow the steps above to open the query interface. Because the test server has a large amount of data, in order to avoid query timeout, only the test data uploaded on January 1, 2015 is retrieved here, as shown below:

Click "Get Series" or "Get Study" below to complete the download,

Set the local archive path to Folder Setup under General Options of Options.
