Dynamics CRM 2015 New Feature (3): Hierarchical Security Model, hierarchical

Hierarchical Security Mode is a disruptive feature. Its appearance completely subverts the traditional Dynamics CRM Security management concept. It provides users with a tree-based structure (organization management chart) to control users' access to records. With this permission control mechanism, we can flexibly control business access in complex scenarios, such as cross-business unit records. Before that, if we want to Access cross-BU records, we need to use Team or Access Team. But today, we only need two distributions to achieve this: 1) enable Hierarchical Security Model, 2) configure the corresponding Position.

We can configure Hierarchy Security under Settings --> Security.

In the above example, GM and DEV are not in the same BU. In the traditional Security Model, GM should not be able to view DEV records, but if we configure a Position-based Security Model, then GM can still view DEV records.
