ERP has been developing for a long time, from MRP, MRPII, ERP to ERPII, from ERP in the manufacturing industry to ERP systems in various industries, the Connotation and extension of the ERP system are constantly being developed and enriched. From the literal meaning of ERP, any resource of the enterprise belongs to the management scope of the ERP system, however, ERP systems tend to manage (Plan) rather than execute. Due to the wide range of enterprise resource plans, the traditional ERP system has a narrow range of functions and is limited to partial management of enterprise resources. For example, the typical ERP system modules include sales management and production management, procurement Management, warehouse management, human resource management, and financial management are mainly concentrated in materials resources, human resources, and capital resources, there are few environmental resources (such as production equipment and environmental maintenance) involved in enterprise production activities. Therefore, we can divide ERP into narrow and broad ERP systems. Let's take a look at the relationship between some existing enterprise management systems and ERP systems:
In the narrow sense, CRM, PDM, SCM, mes, OA, Bi and other systems do not belong to ERP systems, but in the broad sense, CRM, PDM, SCM belongs to the ERP system and belongs to the enterprise management system. Of course, CRM, PDM, and SCM tend to be executed, while Bi belongs to the enterprise decision support system, and MES belongs to the enterprise execution system, OA is an enterprise's administrative support system and tends to be an execution system. PDM, CRM, and SCM can be seen as the refinement, depth, and specialization of some functions of the ERP system. Because the traditional ERP system involves a lot of functions, and many systems are not very in-depth. Therefore, PDM, CRM, SCM and other systems can be seen as an extension of ERP systems.
Because the actual production activities of enterprises are continuous and related, it is very difficult to classify the enterprise management systems, it is also normal that some business functions overlap between systems. However, due to a large number of enterprise information systems and historical reasons, the integration and collaboration between these systems are very poor. This not only increases the cost of enterprise systems (repeated construction), but also increases the difficulty of System promotion and use. In this case, the integration of various information systems of enterprises becomes very urgent. This directly led to the emergence of enterprise IT planning and enterprise system integration. Service-Oriented Architecture technologies are becoming increasingly important.
I personally think that traditional ERP systems will gradually disappear in the future. Instead, enterprises will be replaced by integrated management information systems. enterprise information systems are composed of a series of subsystems based on service-oriented architecture, these subsystems cover all aspects of enterprise management, but these subsystems are built under the overall planning of enterprise information, with good connectivity and collaboration between them, this forms a seamless and complete enterprise information management system. To achieve the unification of enterprise management information systems, strategic planning of enterprise information systems will become more and more important, and the architecture design of enterprise information systems will become more and more important. Enterprise Management Information System, enterprise decision analysis and support system, and enterprise execution system constitute the cornerstone of enterprise information system.
