Office Excel 2007 has a new look, and the new user interface (UI) replaces menus, toolbars, and most of the task panes in earlier versions of Excel with a single, straightforward mechanism. The new user interface is designed to help you more efficiently and easily find the right features to complete a variety of tasks, discover new features, and be more efficient in Excel.
This article applies to experienced Excel 2003 users who want to quickly find their familiar commands in Office Excel 2007 (Technical support staff, IT pros, and other users who are already familiar with the Excel 2003 interface).
Ribbon User Interface
In Office Excel 2007, the Ribbon is the primary alternate control for menus and toolbars. For ease of browsing, the Ribbon contains multiple tabs that are organized around a particular scenario or object. The controls on each tab are further organized into multiple groups. The ribbon can host richer content than menus and toolbars, including buttons, picture libraries, and dialog box content.
1, the tab is task-oriented design.
2. Groups in each tab of a group divide a task into subtasks.
3, command button in each group of command buttons to execute a command or display a command menu.
Tabs that appear only when needed
Every time you start Office Excel 2007, you will see not only the standard set of tabs in the Ribbon, but also the two other tabs that are helpful in the interface to the type of task you are currently performing.
Context Tools
Contextual tools enable you to manipulate objects that you select on a page, such as a table, a picture, or a drawing. When you click an object, the related contextual tab set appears next to the Standard tab with accent colors.
1. Select an item in the document.
2. The name of the applicable context tool will appear in accent text color, and the contextual tab will appear next to the standard set of tabs.
3. The contextual tab provides controls for working with the selected item.
Programs tab
When you switch to some authoring mode or view, including print Preview, the Program tab replaces the standard set of tabs:
menus, toolbars, and other familiar elements
In addition to tabs, groups, and commands, Office Excel 2007 uses other elements that provide another way to perform tasks. The following elements are close to the menus and toolbars that you already know in earlier versions of Excel. The Excel Ribbon mapping workbook helps you find workbooks that contain all of the mapped elements.
