Exchange 2013 linked Mailbox and user mailboxes convert to and from each other

The first 2 days received 1 questions from customers, want to convert the user's linked mailbox to a shared mailbox, the solution to the customer is to export the linked mailbox through the ECP or command to PST, and then remove the disabled account on the ad, and re-create the way users activate the mailbox. After the customer feedback through this method, the sender sent mail to this mailbox are returned letter, the reason for the return is not found this mailbox user, the workaround is: When the sender enters this recipient in Outlook, click the X after the recipient, delete the user, and then re-enter the recipient. But if the sender is more than that, it is very troublesome.

By looking, I found 1 better ways to share this method with you now:

1. Open the EMS Command Line Management window and execute the following command to convert the user's linked mailbox to a non-linked user mailbox

set-user-identity [email protected]-linkedmasteraccount $null

2. When the above command is complete, we see in the ECP that the user's mailbox type has been linked to the user

3. Double-click this user to open the user properties and remove the full access permission from the mailbox delegate

4. If the password for this user does not meet the ad Group Policy requirements, you need to reset the user's password first

5. Enable this user on the on-premises ad

When the above process is completed, the user's mailbox is successfully converted into a user's mailbox and can be logged in normally.

1. To disconnect mailbox objects in the Exchange store from user objects in Active Directory
   Disable-mailbox-identity User1

2. To create a credential object, run the following command.
   $cred = get-credential
   You will be prompted for credentials. Specify an account that has access to the domain controller in the forest where the user account is located. Use the Linkeddomaincontroller parameter to specify a domain controller. This domain controller gets the security information for the account that you want to link the mailbox object to.

3. Reconnect mailbox objects in the Exchange store to external user objects
   Connect-mailbox-identity user1-database "Mailbox Database"-linkeddomaincontroller fabrikamdc01-linkedmasteraccount [Email protected]
